Saving mid game make the game unplayable?

I had to stop playing in the middle of a tactical fight so I made a save. When I come back to the game I can keep fighting the battle but when it's done I can't do anything, the game is just stuck on the world map with no button responding. Any way to get pass this?

I'm afraid it's an unstable game and out of support... Was a project too ambitious with not enough skills and resources applied to it. Such a shame. This game, as the forum points out, can be considered 'dead'.
