Make Changes in Customer Communication
Some Ideas

I know that’s a lot of text but please read it.

Hello Shark Punch. I've played your game at gamescom and bought it now. Just three tips that would make your "early access" version better (it's good already, but there is potential):
  1. Create Change logs and show them in the news section in steam (like other games are doing it today). And if it is just "Fixed bug xxx in level xxx which would have occurred when xxx" That's absolutely enough, but it would show the buyer that you are doing something. Right now I get the information that you have released a 3,6 MB big patch, but I don't know what has changed.

Also please talk to the guys that created Prison Architect. This development studio makes awesome change log reviews about their own game on Youtube. That’s what people like. They are called IVSoftware and here is the link to their Youtube channel.

  2. Add Gadgets. Every game is better with (balanced) gadgets. Don't add an explosive charge that lets you break silent through any door. I mean stuff like a camera that you can throw and EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) charges (disrupts the telephones and cameras for a short time (about 15 seconds)).

  3. Definitely think about a level creator and later about steam workshop integration. The best game content is created by the community. Of course you have priorities (add possibility to save the game, add weapons, etc.) but keep this in mind for the future.
Oh, and please excuse my bad English. I’m German ;)

If you would use at least tip 1 I would recommend this game for everybody.

(List of my favorite indie games right now (best to not best): Prison Architect, The Masterplan, Faster than Light, PixelJunk Shooter (better than it sounds))

I agree with all of this.

I agree, changelogs are invaluable.

Fun fact, IVSoftware were previously making a similar game called Subversion.

Thanks for your feedback! Communicating changes and updates is still new to us since this is our first Early Access title. We'll get better at it, promise :) Sometimes we might push a hotfix to fix a certain issue, and we're still discussing on what would be the best way to communicate that (it's certainly not a Major Update).

Gadgets and items, most definitely on our roadmap. But remember, this is the 70s, so no hi-tech stuff.

A level editor is something that's gonna be added in the future during Early Access. We're currently looking at all the stuff our community could do via Workshop for the game.

Thanks for the support!

Maybe its an old camera where you have to grab the film afterwards to see what happened? Just kidding. Maybe a tripmine (the thing that came before the claymore) and some drugs that make you faster?
