IDEA TIME: Missions
Hey folks,
first of all, i have really enjoyed the game you are making and i think it has great potential, I simply love the setting and the 2d art :)
so I was wondering whether there will also be other missions besides heists in the game to bring the story telling along and also having something different to do every now and then.
I really liked the ideas brought up in the 'Heists' - thread.
here a quick summary of already made suggestions for possible locations and missions:

Heists:
- Museum
- Electronic store
- Casino
- Gunstore
- Some old rich persons mansion / during a party
- Air Hanger
- Dock/Boat, like the air hanger or warehouse only with more water
- Drugstore
- Police station evidence lockup
- Gas Station
- Art Gallery
- cocktail party
- liquor store

other missions:
- crowded top class club, with rich people in it (rob the people instead of vaults)
- Big mansion with cocktail party + lot of personal guards (high security)
- robbing an armored truck convoy that carries money/gold (does the engine allow for moving objects? meaning to perform the robbing while on the run?)
- diner from Pulp Fiction
- hitman missions (this brings in many more possible game mechanics, such as different clothes and gear, perhaps assassine-weaponry such as snipers or more sophisticated gear I also like 0Bennyman idea of having a notoriety system?)
- prison bust (to free your fellow goons)

a few of my ideas:
- Money train
- few small heists to collect/rob things which are necessary for one big heist
- heists that cancel each other out and bring different loot or bonuses, so that you would have to chose (incentive for replaying the campaign)
- robbing/ infiltrating an enemy hideout
- defending your own hideout from intruders

and for some not so serious ideas ;)
- high security facillity (military etc..) story-wise it could somehow be related to the cold war?
- as an homage to the james bond movies, robbing something to dominate the world with for an notorious super-villian alternatively robbing it of him to keep him from world-domination?

A loan sharks office? Big money in loan sharking, heavily armed goons on the premises instead of gaurds. Instead of calling the cops they could call for back up.

another idea of mine would be robbing some kind of "research-facility" with some cool retro stuff from this time :)
two more topics that were pretty actual back then were the
moon-landings and
the vietnam-war
i guess this could make for cool scenarios also :)

I like that idea about smaller heists to collect things for a larger heist. Like you have to rob a hospital for an ambulance as the getaway vehicle and then rob a demolition site for remote explosives to put together a plan to rob an armored vehicle convoy or something

@ mike: exactly my thoughts. i was also thinking about having the choice on some of these heists. for example you can steal either an ambulance or perhaps some military humvee, which is obviously harder to steal but gives you a greater chance for a getaway should you be uncovered during your heist.

I like all heists idea but i think features are much more important than heists. Of course, we can't do much in game without many heists but replay old ones, but remember - when this game will be fully release they will provide map editor. So sooner or later we will be able to make any heists we want, but about features - it's all in developers hands. That's why i wanna see more mechanics and can wait for heists.

good point! the thread's main purpose was to have a place for people to brainstorm and give the devs an idea about missions people want too see.
however i fully agree with what you said. so perhaps its time for a dedicated thread for must-have features and gameplay mechanics

I love following this thread, so do keep them coming!

But yeah, I think we do still have room for a bunch of new gameplay features, so keep posting those as well. One per thread, please. :)
