Null Object Crash
Just got the game and enjoying it a lot but it's crashed around 6 times in my 3 hours played and always when I'm almost done or halfway through a heist and it's getting really frustrating. I really enjoy the game but I can't deal with all my progress being reset because it crashes and me having wasted my time :c. The crash just forces me out of the game and a little window that says something along the time of null object pops up. I can't find any crash logs but there are two files named jobbet_20150605052048.dat.json and jobbet_jobbet.dat.json in the folder and I have no clue what those are.
I'd appreciate help as soon as possible.
Thank you!

Those are your save files. So there's no folder named log? That makes it a bit trickier. There's some hints you can give though:
1. What is the version of the game? You can find it in the title screen bottom left corner.
2. Can you give your system specs?
3. Did anything unusual happen before the crash?
4. What was in the little window along the null object popup?

Really sorry about the trouble, we're doing our best to patch the issue that affects you.

Thank you for taking the time out to help me.
You guys are awesome and have done an amazing job at the game!

1. The version of the game is 1.0.1
2. I'll post the specs below.
3. Not really, It was happening a lot in the Warehouse Heist like everytime so I had to stop trying to do it.
4. I don't recall there was a button that said "ok" I'm pretty sure and when I hit it it closed the game but if I tried to tab back into the game it wouldn't let me.

Okay, that helps. I actually have a computer with similar specs and windows 7 at home, so I will simply replay the Warehouse heist to see if I can reproduce the bug. In the meanwhile, since it's crashing so much for you, I suggest you wait for the next update. We will make an announcement so that should notify you and then you can continue playing the game - crash free, if all goes well.

Thanks again.

Awesome, that's great to know!
Thanks!

Lost on fort knox because of null object. kek
Internetzer 7 Jun, 2015 @ 9:14am
Just went to the van on Arcade with everything looted. Shortly before I get in, BOOM, null object. When I press ok, crash to desktop...please investigate this. Loosing the progress of a whole mission is very annoying.

Just picked up the note in the hideout. Worked the first time, but this time:
"Null Object Reference"
AceAJK 7 Jun, 2015 @ 3:12pm
Yeah I decided to take a break while this gets looked into because it isn't fun crashing as you're going to the van T_T

That litteraly just happened to me a minute ago, as I was finishing the impound heist... Very very frustrating
Celethang 9 Jun, 2015 @ 5:24am
Is it maybe some kind of memory leak/other time-related bug? Because it also usually happens to me towards the end of a heist, and I kinda take a long time knocking everyone out and locking them in rooms. And even just this thread sounds like it happens a lot towards the end of heists.

Also, I've never gotten a crash log from any of these crashes.

It does seem it happens more on the end of heists. Can you post system specs, so maybe we can find something in common with everyone who experiences the crashes?

I had this happen to me too once, but have yet to figure out an exact repro case to help catch it. I might try and make a debug level with a hundread guys locked in rooms to see if that causes it. One report was from just picking up the note in hideout... this is super hard, but we're diligently trying to find the cause.

Recently I have been experiencing the same issue.

And it *seems* it's related to where on the map you are. So far, I was always clearing the right border of the map / screen.

I've got the impression the game has problems detecting this area of the map. Most of the time I will even get the bubble pointing at one of my goons displayed directly above his/her head when (s)he is standing near the edge of the map and in full view. Moreover it may be impossible to directly select one of the gangsters in that area. Happened at the arcade when I was preparing to 'storm' the back room and now kicked me out of the Fly's mansion while I was checking the garden at the right.

Maybe it's related to aspect ratios? The guys from L.A. Cops reported problems with 16:10 resolutions using the Unity Engine. On the other hand The Masterplan seemed to be pretty solid when it comes to res detection and display, even when it was in EA.

Still, this can be pretty frustrating and I hope you hunt the bug down ;)

That's a good tip, I will try to test and see if I can make it crash fiddling with what you described.
xj220_nj 29 Jul, 2015 @ 10:00am
Happened again. Now I was moving along the alley to the right in the police impound heist.

Like before, I was trying to select one of goons standing very close to the edge of the map and *boom* null object crash.

Were you able to reproduce the issue?
MekaSkull 30 Jul, 2015 @ 3:23am
Hey, thanks for bringing this up again. I couldn't make it happen then, but tried with a different aspect ratio now and I got it to crash. Thanks a lot for your help, this should be easy to fix for the next update.
