I have to do that around 4-5 times before the game starts.

It will show "STOP" in Steam for AC, after you have clicked PLAY. It should be running if it says STOP in steam. What issue are you actually having??

Works fine now. I signed out from Ubisoft and started the game from Steam and it worked and still working

I believe the reason why you can't play Assassin's Creed Shadows 2 is because game hasn't released yet. Maybe you downloaded virus!

I had to close the Ubisoft Connect software completely. Check the system tray and make sure it is not running at all. Then try starting the game from Steam. It will then start the Ubisoft Connect software and the game immediately starts.
