Linux save location
~/Documents isn't intended for save files and it's quite annoying to have folders just randomly pop up there that one can't get rid or hide without also ditching the application.

~/.local/share would be a much better choice and is where a number of other Steam games put their save files.

+1, already found this to be annoying.

~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/<STEAM-ID>/<GAME-ID> seems to be the default for me.

BTW, the best way to migrate away from these things is IMHO to check if the right file exists in the new location and, if not, first check the old location then copy the data from the old to the new. If you want you can give the user a message or leave a file at the old location saying "no longer in use" (don't just delete it, though).

+1, every modern toolkit on the world to create games or programs should have a platform-independent way to get the user-specific folder for app-data.
