Fixes for Infinite Loading/Freeze and Black Screen
We've had some reports on this and for the most part it's been easy fixes.

Infinte Loading/Freezes:

For the most part you simply have to verify you files:

*Taken from SH forum*

Try verifying your cache files.

In Steam Go to "Library". Right-click on "Space Hulk Ascension". Go to "Properties" and click it. On the window that opens, go to the "Local Files" tab. Go to the bottom of this tab and click the button with "Verify Cache files" on it. Wait for the application to run, this could take 5-10 minutes. When it finishes completely, close your Steam browser. Exit Steam completely by right-clicking the Steam icon in your Toolbar and then clicking "Exit. (instructions by datguy13)


For the blackscreen issues it's a matter of corrupted save game files or a missing save game folder, which is a random Unity bug.

To fix this either delete the save games files Unity has created and if there is no save game folder, create it.

Save Game folder can be hidden so remember to show hidden files!

MAC

/Users/[YOU USERNAME]/.config/Full Control/SpaceHulkAscension

PC

C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Full Control\SpaceHulkAscension

LINUX
/.config/unity3d/Full Control/SpaceHulkAscension

Blackscreen users should also try to verify their files as it could also fix the issue.

i have tried verifying my cache and it still is not working the game still freezes on the main menu when i try to click yes or no on the tutorial can anyone please help me

tried cache, dosent work, dark angels dlc'incoming threat' 1st turn genestealers dosent load. you play 1 turn & crash everytime. Keep taking the money FC for trash you tossers.

Are you using an Assault Cannon? If so, then the patch to fix it will be coming soon. If not, do a search of the forum. I've listed a half-dozen different fixes for issues where the game freezes.

And in case you're feeling frisky and want to argue the point, take it to a new thread. This one's for sticky'd fixes, not insults.

I'm playing on Linux, or rather trying to but can't get past the tutorial as most of the screen goes black so I can't see what I'm doing. I've verified my files and checked the save folder. The black screen bug is still present in the linux version with high detail enabled.

Hey Zuggi, thanks for a great game, really enjoy iy. Unfortunately my PC crashed during a game and since then it wont load. I have renistalled multiple times, verified game cache, even defragged my laptop. All to no avail. It loads the intro movie then freezes on a black screen. I suspect it is the saved game issue you have mentioned. Where exactly in the game folder should i create one as i cannot see it listed anywhere in local files. Apologies if my ignorance is showing :)

Hi there, I have played this game for 21 hours now and really like it.

Now when I start, there is sound of the intro on a black screen, I can even skip the intro with space. After that I just hear the music playing on a black screen.

I play on a MAC Book Pro, 2,7 GHZ Intel Core i7 under OS High Sierra 10.13.6

I have uninstalled the game, the whole Steam-App, deleted the config, checked the cache-files, added a savegames folder: all to no avail.
It would be great if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction.

I have the same problem mentioned by davidhilf.i’using a Mac too.

I have been playing this game since November of 2014, over 1500 hours without a problem until it was relegated to the "cloud", upon which, lag loads, extended black screens before continuing BEFORE the game and AFTER misson completion, culminating with this "sudden" random Unity problem.
No fix offered works....so I guess I'm supposed to sit here with warm water running down my back, believing it when I'm told I'm being rained on?

Until what, exactly, was relegated to the cloud?

The game itself has zero cloud functionality. Savegame location uses steam cloud functionality since release.
