Conquest Dark

Conquest Dark

Can’t install the game.
The game just won’t download to the end, stoping at 91 % (or 82 % according to bottom line). I tried to delete it and reboot PC, it didn’t help. Game wasn’t installed before. Steam download management says that “content is not available” and "servers with data are not available". Any ideas?

So is this going to get fixed? i bought this two weeks ago and still haven't been able to install it.

This isn’t something I can fix, as it’s on Steam’s end. They’ve already mentioned in this thread that Windows 7 is no longer supported. One workaround is to install the game on a different device with an operating system supported by Steam, and then transfer the game to your current device from there.

If you were not able to install even the previous versions you might have a separate issue from rest of the people here.

You might want to try out these possible fixes in order:

To explain further, we recently enabled a new compression algorithm which is vastly better-performing, and will enable faster downloads with much lower CPU load on clients. It will also improve unlock times for preloads for users on SSD (for spinning disks, the disk writes are the bottleneck). This was good just to save CPU load but it is also necessary for the faster (> 1Gbps) internet speeds people have in some places now, and it also really improves the experience on the Steam Deck.

New content coming in to Steam is now being compressed with this algorithm; existing content will not be converted. So if you're on an old client version for any of the reasons discussed here, there will still be many games in the catalog you can download and play (so long as they are not being updated, or if you can pin them to a particular build using branches supplied by the developer). Unfortunately we can't support having the data in both formats for new content.

Richard Hendricks is that you? :steamhappy:

oh that worked! nice thanks.

Hopefully there's some back end support for those of us stuck with out of date systems. By the time I can save up enough money to buy replacement hardware that Win10+ actually likes, humanity will likely be wiped out by the technopocalypse. Bad enough that it takes the better part of a year to save up enough to buy a cheap indie game that does work on Win7, but then to be kneecapped by back end delivery failure choices just to prioritize super fast internet that not everyone has?

Well, there were some good people that restored functionality for Win7 users so we could use the browser more properly like before after support was officially cut. If those people are still in the company, give them a bonus for returning download support.

Something in your words does not add up. After the latest update of the Steam client on July 30, when updating games, the message “download files are corrupted” appears. This has never happened before. But the game “Counter-Strike 2” has already been updated twice without problems. So the problem with the Steam client is something else, not what you wrote. Or maybe you made an exception for your game so that the online does not drop and you do not lose customers.
I have Windows 7, and I know some people with Windows 10 have the same problem.

Win 7 user....Started happening to me also. 3 different games getting updated at different times since July 1st. Seems as though the last bit of data (where the update corrupts) is the actual update data. The first part of the download is the actual game. When you go "Offline" and click on "Resume, the button will change to "Play" The game will run without the update. Doesn't solve the problem but at least you dont lose the game completely.
Same started for me. RIP win 7 I guess

I would have to agree. I hope someone reads this thread before buying a fun looking game. unfortunately I didnt and now I can play the game I just bought. :steamsad:

There is one temporary solution. If you have a friend you trust, you can ask him to transfer the game files to you. But there is a risk that this may be considered illegal. Perhaps only free games are relatively safe to transfer to friends. Although, in fact, the game you receive from your friend, you have already purchased on your Steam account a long time ago. And therefore, it probably should not be considered illegal distribution. But still, I do not advise doing this with paid games.

I saw the game developer's answers in this thread, so let him solve this problem. In fact, he himself could help individual users in this way so that everything is legal. He even suggested a similar method himself, only without his participation.

Of course, you won't be able to fix it, but people who have this problem will be able to play. Although, of course, it will constantly take some of your time.

I still hope that the people from Valve will solve the problem with the Steam client, because many games continue to update and work on Windows 7 without problems.

Then how come the game Unturned is updating several times for me this past month but not games like PEAK, Peglin, REPO, etc?
I figured it out for Windows 7, assuming you install the latest service pack updates.

1. Download and install VxKex-NEXT from github (current latest release is 1.1.3.1584)
2. Go to steam.exe in the install directory, not the shortcut. Right click. Go to Properties.
3. Go to VxKex tab. Check Enable and Report as Windows 10. Save. Then start.

It should automatically start updating to the latest client. Non-NEXT VxKex would give you missing DLL errors at this point. Now you should be able to download, and update games as well. Simply transferring downloaded files wouldn't be enough for games that still need updating.
if this is a win 7 issue. people should look into if can still just upgrade to win 10 for free. it was marketed as a limited time thing but when i upgraded it still worked. it worked on an unofficial copy of win 7 and generated a legit win 10 key. if not comfortable with upgrading OS ask a more tech saavy friend to walk you through or look up youtube videos to get more comfortable, if some reason real nervous about it you could clone your drive to a fresh drive and then update it on that one so if something somehow went wrong you have no worries since you still have current setup on a different drive.
