Crackling Audio Help?
Has anyone else been experiencing horribly crackly audio? The intro MV always has crackling, and the game itself will get drowned out with crackling about ~10 minutes into playing it. I know it isn't my headphones being busted as the sound carries over streams as well.

I've had strange crackling come in and out during gameplay. Like audio is fine for 1 minute, then crackling for like 15 seconds fades in, fades out to fine audio. It's so consistent that it feels like it was intended.

No clue how to fix, tho

Bumping because I have the exact same issue. Not sure if it matters, but I use Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) - mentioning it because the same problem occurs in very few select games for me.

The intro crackling is caused by Godot. Godot has a terrible built in video player codex, and it stutters and cracks whenever the video has a frame which is the same as the last.

I will be looking for an alternative video codec if possible.

As for the other audio issues, can you get a recording of the game when it happens? It'll help for me to find the issue.

I'm having what appears to be same issue as the OP, and here are two demonstrations of what it's like:

I hope this helps the issue get resolved because it's hard to listen to. Otherwise I'm loving Psychopomp so far.

I got an occasional small pop in my audio, I believe maybe when the ambient music was looping, which was most pronounced in the Hospital. This was on an ROG Ally Z1E, not sure if it's a hardware specific issue or not because the Ally is kinda known for audio issues like that. I may play game again on my desktop soon so I'll see if issue persists.

Ah, looking into this, it seems to be a universal godot problem:
https://github.com/godotengine/godot/pull/89283

As for this issue, it seems like it's fixed in Godot 4.3, while Psychopomp Gold runs on Godot 4.2
It may take a bit to update the game to this new version, but I will start looking into it.

You can try to lower your audio quality in the Windows settings menu: https://i.imgur.com/bAqUPPn.png . Sometimes the difference in frequency can cause issues. Hoping for a switch to vorbis or ffmpeg

Yeah I had it to the point it was pretty much all I was hearing was cracking and pops. It was kinda giving me a headache so I muted it in volume mixer. I just beat the sewer area but I'll try more in a bit! I really like he game besides the lil bug

I always figured the crackling was an aesthetic thing. Oh no. This is definitely a review edit

If anyone is having issues, if you use an audio dac like a Focusrite be sure to set sample rate to 44100 in its settings.

Unfortunately, updating to 4.3 broke every single animation in the game that has audio in it among other things, so it'll be a bit before I can get that functioning and ready.
