Neither Attila or Rome2 will launch?
Hey there, Warhammer3 is the only TW game that is launching.
Windows 11
Reinstalled multiple times
Verified files multiple times
Tried numerous online suggestions
Tried launching via administrator
Tried launching via the application in the folders
There is no AppData folder for either because its never launched successfully once

No idea what to do here?

I have the same problem with the same two games that I just bought.

I have the same issue. After I reinstalled Windows (one of the reasons was that Attila will start at crazy fps (1200) and than slowed down to 1 fps and got stuck) game would not even launch. Looking for answers now.

All of my Total War Games launch.

Just found the solution:
you need to install Total War: Rome II and it installs some Direct X files that are missing from Attila, apparently. After that game launches just fine. Go figure. Very obscure and strange solution but it worked for me. Try it.

Yes all have worked fine in the past. Machine is an excellent custom built machine. Came back after a year or two and no longer working.

I'm seeing a lot of this, about those two games in particular and hearing Windows 11 has something to do with it.

EG Warhammer TW works fine

Rome2 won't launch at all. happy you managed to fix it your issue though.

Sorry, couldn’t help you. The issue though is a Direct X. Some legacy part of it won’t be loaded from latest release, I assume. Good luck.
Hello there, I have found a solution for you.

Navigate to "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly" and delete the "Attila" and "Rome 2" folder. Restart your PC and then launch the game. It should work after that.

Also, If you encounter any freezing during battles or campaign play. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, Open up the task manager and go to details and select "set affinity", un-select all processors and then select 0 to 7 only. That will allow the game to work properly.

This is what I've been doing and has been working for me. Hopefully it works for you as well

Hi there! As I've never been able to launch these games (now Empire doesn't launch either), there is no folder.

I can't play 3 games now, this is very poor. Chat GPT tells me its likely a windows 11 issue but none of the fixes work. Frustrating

If neither Attila nor Rome 2 ever launched successfully, it might be a system issue blocking them. Try this: go to your Documents folder and make sure there are no leftover Total War folders from older installs. Also turn off any background apps like antivirus, MSI Afterburner or Razer software, just to rule them out.

Since there is no AppData folder yet, the game probably crashes before creating config files. You can also try setting Windows to run in clean boot mode to see if something is blocking it early on.

One more thing to try is installing the DirectX and Visual C++ redistributables manually from the game's support folder. Sometimes Steam skips them during install.
