So I've been doing a WRE playthrough and it's been pretty fun, but I'm kinda curious as to how exactly one part of the faction's unique trait works: "Upkeep cost: -2% per non-Roman unit in a military force"
The way this is worded seems quite vague and open to interpretation. When I first saw this I thought it sounded like it reduced ALL upkeep in your military for every foreign unit you have, which would be pretty darn great. From what I've seen from other people discussing it though, it sounds like this bonus may instead be applied on a per-army basis, which if true is a lot weaker of a bonus.
So far in this playthrough I've been trying to recruit foreign auxilliaries whenever possible, and I swear sometimes it does seem like the hit to my income from hiring them is much less than it should've been. But it could just be my brain trying to convince itself that the mechanic is working, idk.
Does anybody have an idea on how exactly this trait works?
