My friends are the worst
What stops someone from just typing gibberish as the hint? Or lying outrageously?

Example: My friend says it's a dog but it's a fried egg. Now we think we are looking for a dog-like thing and we overlook the egg, which was never truly hinted to.

Is it just on an honor-based system? Asking because my friends will intentionally lie like this just to win.

By not associating the hint with the chosen card, it will most likely result in getting no votes at all meaning no points gained. By doing that it also means that someone else most likely has a card that matches the prompt more, meaning people will vote for that one instead.

Yes, but what if they ALL do this? The person with the card AND the people without the card. :(
