Is there a way to turn off the scanlines?

Yes, you can edit display.txt in CoQ_data\StreamingAssets\Base to your heart's content.

The main problem is it will get stomped on some updates. So you can copy it to your save path, and it will respect the one in your saved path over the one in CoQ_data\StreamingAssets\Base

The default save path on Windows is: C:/Users/<username>/AppData/LocalLow/Freehold Games/CavesOfQud

Display.txt also has options to remap all the colors and other visual effects as well.

Yeah, is there a way to get rid of the green tint?

While we're throwing ideas for options... Can we get an option that makes the game fill in the entire screen? I'm not sure if this just applies to widescreen resolutions but I've always hated those bars on the top and bottom of my screen.

Yes, go to CoQ_data\StreamingAssets\Base\Display.txt
Change "k" to "000000" Just make sure its the lowercase k and not the capital K
It should look like this when you're done "k":"000000",

You can also choose any other hex color triplet to put in there and see how it goes. Here is a useful site to have at hand in order to identify and find colors you like: http://www.colorhexa.com/

Out of interest, what does the K-line modify?

K is the color code for black. Lowercase is dark (black), uppercase is bright (dark grey)

So in the game, the tiles that are out of sight get colored as K while k is the default background?

Ok, I think I think see why they did the Green tint (other than just to look oldschool). The scanlines show up much better on the green than black.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
