Final Tomb, just to have it break

I made it all the way to the end, through all the hoops, only for the game to basically break. I stayed in the tomb until I dehydrated, and bam, nothing. Just that they died of dehydration not being stuck in a tomb. I cannot believe that.

So I'm here to ask, what the hell went wrong? I went through the steps, why did the game refuse to acknowledge I was in the tomb?

What should happen in the Tomb of the Eaters quest is you explore through the tomb to the top where you then talk to Herododicus the biographer and tell them to entomb you. Once they inscribe your accomplishments they should tell you to hop in the sarcophagus and once you do you instantly "die" and continue the quest.
I do not know of anything that would cause you not to be entombed correctly.
