i expected to die but no ----the thing turns into a legendary perch fish --- i guess because i dropped iit near water but anyway now i have a legendary attack perch ( who cant leave the pool it is in )

Maybe, next time, look at the item before activating it.

Going "Oh wow what's this round thing and why is there a pin in it I guess I'll just remove the pin just like that to see what happ-" is not the best idea.

Why are you here if all the input you have is complaining about the game? If you like the game conceptually but dislike the trial and error nature of roguelikes, play in Roleplay mode and just reload from a village when you die (and you can manually save in villages, allowing you to do potentially risky things risk-free. Just remember to quit without saving if your experimenting goes wrong). Qud is all about gathering knowledge until you're familiar with the world and know what to do and, more importantly, what not to do. My first time taking the power source out of a magnetic bottle wasn't rage-inducing, because I was in Roleplay mode and got a good laugh out of my cataclysmic demise.

"Fabricate one _____, cognitively altered to like you" is not foolish gibberish, it's literally what the item does.

Going "Oh wow what's this round thing and why is there a pin in it I guess I'll just remove the pin just like that to see what happ-" is not the best idea.---- ok then so lets look at the alternative. i find this thing and i am so scared of it i just sell it or put in in a chest or something. now it sits there forever ----UNTIL--- i leave the game and join the community to search for and find out what it ( and everything else in the game as well ) does...which is EXACTLY what the devs are intentionally doing with this style of game design.

the devs make in game information impossible to find and intentionally vague knowing / hoping that the game will build up a wiki community of gamers who do exactly what you are doing ie fan boi the game all day long---- so they can then sell merchandise to the aforementioned community. got your hoodie yet ? :steammocking:

one what ? does it say that ? for all i know it makes a tree that likes me or a cloud or wtf i mean jesus . NO. Defend the turd !! you must !!

also it COULD say in the description its a one time thing that can only be activated once instead of me using and THEN i find out.

Also you act as though the fans of the game have some greater understanding of it, like we're "in" on it, but trust me, some of the creature and item descriptions make me draw a mental blank. I've googled words I've never seen before. Is the writing a tad pretentious? Sure, but it's also really fascinating. Try to have a more inquisitive stance when encountering things you don't understand rather than responding with hostility.

It actually does. For example, if the item fabricated a Greater voider, it would say "Fabricate one Greater voider, cognitively altered to like you". I left it blank because different fabrication relics create different creatures.

The game told you exactly what the item does, in one short sentence.

Your options were:

a) Read the short sentence, say "Oh, so that's what the item does. Huh."

b) Don't read the sentence, use the item anyway, then make a post complaining about how the game didn't tell you what the item does even though it did.

Which of those sounds reasonable, and which of those sound absolutely insane?

This...sounds fun though and just like the kind of story people would share about Qud, in order to try and sell others on the game. Yet it is formulated like a complaint. I'm confused.

Instead of trolling the discussion forums telling people not to play it write a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ review like a normal person. All of your whining is literally just about skill issues.

esoteric

bro first off, you can get it out of water but you're probably too "inane" to figure that out. (wings, transmute, etc) but you're so impulsive and quick to feel helpless and blame the game that you did not even know the name of the token. Sounds like you are upset at your own shortcomings not the games. after all, your happiness stems from within. especially since the very thing you are upset about was inflicted from your impulsiveness despite having the ability to alter the outcome yourself both before and after it has happened. i feel like you couldn't have any type of adventure without bamboozling your own happiness and fun so maybe look inside if you really want happiness and not frustration.
