They can get free hentai online but they want something they can control, you cant control a movie but you can control those games so it feels a bit more sexual to them
Either that or they're completely brain-dead
Not as in control the nudity.
I Mean they feel that the characters are "actually there"
I studied psychology I sorta know what im talkin about : 3
They feel that its more livelike.
or its the other thing, they're complete suckers for this type of fads.
the reasons are
- the reason I stated before.
- they're suckers for fads.
- they're generally interested on wth is this game is.
- they bought it to look "funny" and "kinky or cool"
- they bought it to farm cards if it has cards and was on mega sale or bundle.
- they bought it to "troll" people that says you're dumb for buying it.
- the obvious one - > they wanna fap *giggity* (insert lenny's face here)
- they're braindead.
I hate visual novels that revolves around porn but I understand why some people would buy those, not saying I think they should but UNDERSTANDS.
Wish they make a visual novel thats something like the old comic books I used to read.
that has nothing to do with hentai and has an actual good story and good twists and action.
thanks for answering
(sry for bad eng)
and here's you lenny face ( ͡͡ ° ͜ ʖ ͡ °)
They are being marketed to a demographic of users that have never seen such things or which, if they have, have only seen them on more "direct" websites and in more "direct" forms (aka, again, actual pornography or, in relation to these anime-esque games, hentai).
Thus, games like these on Steam, even if "censored" and Erotica/Ecchi as opposed to Pornography/Hentai, are "interesting" and tempting for the userbase.
It helps that, of course, there are loads of kids/younger people here too.
Oh and yeah: Loads of YouTubers and Streamers play them "cuz lolololo weird pervy games".
---
As for why people play these games as opposed to just masturbating via Google/Bing/dedicated erotica/porn websites...
Well, the "immersion" and "challenge and reward" factors.
The first factor is relevant with the Visual Novels and/or RPG games, where the players get immersed in a story and characters (even if badly written) and thus feel connected to the characters. Yeah, they know that the hot animu grill is not real, but if she feels just that bit more real... It "helps" with masturbating, understandably so.
You can compare it to the fact that some porn movies are actual movies with plot and dialogue while others are just "sex" and nothing else.
The second factor is also pretty simple - if you play a hard-ass game and beat it, you will feel satisfaction.
In this case the erotica/ecchi (and in some other cases, the pornography/hentai) waiting at the end of the challenging game is just bonus satisfaction and motivation.
Since you're probably the type of person that would check, I own the sakura games becase they're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilariously cringey, bad, horrifying terrible, etc. If I wanted to do something with the main purpose of porn, I'd look up some free porn so that I don't have to spend money.
I am pretty sure that I said somewhere before that comment that "I can understand why people would play those visual novels but not this game "
So you need to calm down and it wasnt a "few courses" I actually graduated
Simple:
Games like Super Meat Boy = Good.
Bewbs = Good.
Good + Good = Better.
On a more serious note:
It could have several reasons. Some like it, because of the art-style of a particular artist and want to support them.
Some, in case of VN's, buy them for the story. Since they lack interactivity, they don't interest me. Games mainly focused around narritve aren't my cup of tea in general.
In this particular game, if we're bringing in psychology already, it may be, because beating a hard level in a hard platformer feels rewarding.
Now throw "smexy animu" ladies in it at the end of a level for a more rewarding feel and higher motivation. (Serotonine for the win.)
It sure works better, than "Sorry, but your princess is in another castle.".
