It's not. Left4Dead has a focus on teamplay and various other limitations to force you to stay with your group, this game is different in multiple ways.

A lot of games have zombies and gore, that doesn't make them like L4D

Brainbread 2 is quite similar to Zombie Panic! Source, Contagion and No More Room In Hell but Left 4 Dead can be compared to Codename Cure as said game is a 4-player cooperative game with objectives.

All these games execute the first person shooter game with zombies right nonetheless.
