BrainBread 2
Let's make this game more satisfying to play
Bernt, Nick, Puggle and everyone else (devs and players), I'd like to propose some changes and make some suggestions (and listen to your opinions and suggestions) to make this game feel better and more satisfying to play. I might add more things down the line.

1- Add some form of prestige-like system: While reaching level 500 is no easy task, I feel like every kill after that is a waste of XP. It would be really cool to either start leveling up again (without resetting my stats) or to keep leveling up infinetly. You could add some rewards for the people that keep grinding.

2- Add rewards for leveling up (from level 1 to 500): While I get that leveling up is suppoused to make you stronger, I feel like adding some extra rewards like weapon skins or even sprays would be really nice. Visual rewards are more impactful than an invisible skill point that's just another number in a menu.

3- Overhaul the Elimination gamemode: We all know the gamemode is pretty much dead, so I'd like to propose some changes: I feel like turning it into something like L4D vs would really revive the gamemode. Instead of getting to point a to point b, maybe you can make it so half of the players are zombies and half are humans, humans must either complete all objectives or survive while completing infinite objectives.
If you want to go for the "complete all objectives" route, make it so you get xp (that is added to a different rank, separate from objective/arena rank) based on how fast you completed the objectives. Killing or completing objectives will not give you xp to avoid farming. The zombie team would get xp based on human kills and they get a bonus if they prevent humans from completing all objectives.
If you want to go the "infinite objectives" route, give xp to humans based on how many objectives they complete on a certain timeframe, and give xp to zombies based on human kills.

4- Give multiplayer vs modes their own rewards: Maybe skins or sum like that for leveling up their separate ranks.

5- Aid newbs on multiplayer vs modes: Basically give them a little boost of damage or something like that, to help them fight high level players like Puggle. Also might be good to give them some sort of warning (like a message) before playing with high level players so they know why they might get curbstomped.

Hello Cutsman,

Thank you for including me in your post.
However, I must remind you I am simply a player of this game not a developer.

I have found the developers very open to suggestions from the community for the past 7 years.

I agree (only as a player) that elimination could do with an overhaul. I avoid the mode myself. It doesn't take away from my overall enjoyment of this game.

Adding skins or sprays I like that idea myself.

Level 500 is much easier to achieve right now in 2023 than when I did it back in 2018. I watch all BB2 players closely and have seen people do this quite quickly as of late. It took me 1.5 years to achieve this mainly playing in work.

Number 5 in the above post I disagree with. I feel deathmatch is a great playing field leveler. In deathmatch we all equal apart from our own bloodlust.
I enjoy playing the BB2 deathmatch and am very willing to help any new player who has manners.

Deathstalker should really be listed there as the most feared player not me. I warn new players about him (in the most respectful manner)
He reminds me of the bloody Marauder in Doom Eternal hehe. I do enjoy playing against him but won't go into the match lightly (that means - hydrated, rested, caffeinated and with some level of blood sugar and rage determination)

We don't always agree on everything Cutsman but I fully respect your dedication to the community of this game and am willing to work with you on these matters.

Thanks again to the developers

Yes, I know that, I just included you cause you're one of the most dedicated players so you must know a thing or 2 about the game, right? :happy_yeti:

I know having something that goes unused technically doesn't affect players, but I feel like it would be cool if it was revived to give more gameplay options.

I know, I know, I'm just basing my suggestions on reviews from new players complaining about being destroyed on multiplayer. While yes, you could say they are whining, but I feel like it would be better for the game to retain every player it gets.

I am playing deathmatch since 1996 (Final Doom)
There is also a deathmatch guide I have written at the request of the community. There's more to add but I can't seem to get the time.

Any player needs help with this game give me a shout.
I promise I don't cheat.

Yes, I am hung up on deathmatch for this game - it brings back my misspent youth.

You have to take into account that not everyone is up to learning about how to dominante in every game. That's why my idea is to give them instant help without forcing them to learn because again, the idea is player retention, whether they decide to improve or not is up to them.

skilling up in this game is not a waste of time

This is a good training game for all First person shooter games
These skills can be translated into other titles

Well, to put it simply: The idea is to keep as many players as possible, so losing them due to them feeling defeated is bad. We just give them a little help to keep them interested and then remove it over time when they get used to the gameplay (just like training wheels).

While that's true, you need to convince people to stay in the game long enough to WANT to improve. Not everyone keeps playing the game to see if the problem is their skill, some people install, die a lot and then uninstall.

Well I meant new players, not old players. If we want to grow our community, we need new players. As for updates, Bernt (the programmer) is working on his new game "Infestus", and Nick (the level designer) is working hard on a Contagion map project, so don't expect a huge update soon. As for me, I currently can't make anything very significant for the game cause I'm too busy with uni at the moment, however I do work on random assets that can be used on BB2 form time to time, though I'm not sure how useful those are if at all...

i think that sounds great - keep it up

the release brought the most players I've ever seen to the game
I understand the lads are busy as are you

sadly most players nowadays are too busy with fortnite and similar spin-offs, we have little to no marketing, so attracting new players is quite hard

I know there's no way to attract more players, however things can be changed to make it a better experience for people that stumble upon it and decide to try it.

The only things I'd change about this game are:

Elimination mode
Adding more players so I can kill them
Puggle 2 Apr, 2023 @ 4:47am
why should a game be changed for people that are not here?
It's their loss.

They should change and play Brainbread 2 instead.

That's like me saying I should become a skinny person with lots of hair so somebody somewhere will like me. If you get into that game of Pong you'll never get out of it. I don't do social media I do FPS games.

Enough of the namby pamby attitude.
This game is a jewel to be discovered. Love it now for what it is.
Yes more contant would be rly nice i mean we got rly many modders and mappers who do it for free. It should be just uploadet for the official servers. We had modmaps in the past but today its always the same... I mean we lvl 500 players do all to hold it active but our players get bored after a while to play always the same map.
