Losing hope for this game
Losing both hope and interest for this game here.

I'm in the middle of the invasion bit yet again, and now my entire 500+ nugget population has decided they must all drink from the frozen lakes and get zombiefied. Despite the fact that I have placed reservoirs EVERYWHERE. They litterally walk right past one to get to the lake.
So I am panic-healing everyone while eyeing the timer, knowing full well that when the next wave of ufos hit I'll either have to lose to the spaceships or lose the population to zombie armageddon.

Why? Why why why does this game constantly try to push the zombie apocalypse on me? I already go the xenophobia route and destroy every neighbour before they can settle, and blow up every space box that might be tainted.
But no. Zombies I must, apparently.

And even if I get past all that, like in the one game that I've progressed far enough to start colonizing the moon, well... two or three days on the moon will have somehow wiped my large, healthy nugget population down to something like a fourth. And those are all elderly.
Wow.

Really wish we could get the sandbox mode back, I don't care for the story and just want to build my little civilization, zombie free.

Sounds challenging. I wonder where the zombies are coming from. Maybe there's a nugget or two somewhere with the zombie trait that you should get rid of.

Have you tried lighter difficulties? I just finished the story on my first playthrough. The infected zones and the dirty water were the most annoying bits, but manageable with Rejuvenation and Nugget health perks. I eventually worked out that I the the infected zones would never appear within range of a working cemetery. The Minister of Water pretty much solved the dirty water problem after a while, and the Ministry of Defense placed enough towers (with the right upgrades) to take out the UFOs within seconds. Managed to avoid any conflict with the Exiles altogether through trade and staying out of their way.

I haven't tried fully colonizing the moon or other planets, I shipped the moon Nuggets back to the main planet as soon as I could replace them with Nuggetoids to makes things simpler. I only needed 5 in order to build a few necessary buildings and extract the Planet Cracker part.

I think the latest update notes say that sandbox is on the way, and it is a fun little sim, so I hope you stick with it. GLHF

I have everything set to easiest, because the first playthrough I got hit with wave after wave of zombie armageddon and couldn't stop it. Which is why these days when I play I destroy new neighbours before they can settle (the reason I couldn't combat the zombie virus was that a neighbour was the source, and I couldn't get to them inside their bubble. I'd cure those that came out, but once they had gone back in they would get infected again by those there. It was a mess). And I also learned the lesson early to have cemeteries EVERYWHERE, to avoid infected zones - not an easy task when the nuggets sometimes decide rambling through the woods so far from home is a good idea, but as soon as I find a walking trek outside of the green zone I place yet another cemetary. So at this point it really is just the drinking water thing. I don't quite understand how there can be reservoirs everywhere that all say that they are full, yet when I check them they have only a small portion of ready drinking water? Hopefully I've advanced science far enough that the drinking water issue is resolving in that game, at least the nuggets have chilled out on throwing themselves at every pool at once for now. Could also just be because the alien invasion is over.

I'm slowly advancing towards the colonizing stage again, only this time I've prepared the nuggetoids I can make in advance. Not sure if it helps any, but I think I'll take your advice and not bother with colonizing the moon in earnest. Just send up nuggetoids to extract what I need, and focus on colonizing some planet that hopefully already has an atmosphere or something.
I'm worried that doing that won't change a thing though, as it was never the end planet that was the issue, it was starter planet that in a measly few days dropped the population down to nearly nothing, with little to no hope of raising it since the remaining were all elderly. This really should NOT be happening. There's just no way for so many nuggets to die in such a short span of time, so I'm thinking it is a bug.

Fingers crossed for that return of the sandbox mode.
Sounds like the devs NEED to implement some better AI

Yeah I'm having the same iussue now. They were fine, and suddenly they all go to the lake. Still have over 30 drinkable water available, but 15 of them decided the lake was a better drink.
thanks for this; I much dislike zombie-based games and will definitely steer clear.
Put the zombies in the Altar shredder. Look at it in game, it has two spike cylinders that rotate. This is it's purpose. pick them up and drop them in. Analyzing then opening up the mystery box drops have a chance to infect your nuggets as well so I avoid it.

The zombie system needs a little bit of an overhaul I think. But I find that just keeping an eye on them helps.

Not sure if you were replying to me, specifically?

Anyway. No, I don't like using the shredder, I don't like playing the "angry god" route which happens enough just trying to protect the nuggets from UFOs and such.

But more to the point, when these things strike - the mass charge towards all lakes ignoring the many, many water towers for instance - it is in such numbers that if I did that I would end up decimating my nugget population. I might as well just give them all to the UFOs then and end the game.
I know what to watch out for when it comes to the mystery boxes so I have never gotten the zombie apocalypse from them. It is annoying that they keep trying to sneek past me though.

And I fully agree that the zombie system needs an overhaul, or if not that then an on/off setting so people can choose. I sincerely find nothing entertaining about them, personally.
But then again the game seems to very desperately need and overhaul of the system for what happens if you leave the home planet for a short while. It just isn't playable that you leave for two game days and come back to a population that has dropped to a third of what it was, and those that remain are elderly. How are we supposed to colonize anything that way?
Unless this is something that only happens in some games (like mine), in which case it is a bug and needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

All that said I haven't played in a while. Got past the latest zombie apocalypse by frentic work, but got to the point of moon colonization and, well, as I said I know how that will backfire. So I'm playing other games instead, hoping maybe this one will get fixed at some point.
well, i got a suggestion, either it depends on how good you are with your nuggets, if you are a good god with them (no scared thingy) you can get more points every second through minute. But, if you make your nuggets absolutely scared of you, you can throw them in the Alter or whatever thingy to get points for a specific amount. Doing this, you can defeat the aliens by using lighting on them. Whenever they send over their PLANET-DESTROYER-9000!!!!!!!! you can EASILY destroy them with 5 - 10 bolts. after this, you can try to repair things up with your nuggets, figure out the main root of why their drinking lake water, are their reservoirs low? or are there not enough production? or is there not enough storage??? whatever it is, you can fix it up.

I had infinite god powers on, that was not the issue with the drinking water zombie epedemic. I had (have, technically, I just haven't played in a long while) water pumps and reservoirs to exess, and made sure to have rain top up the lakes regularly, so there was absolutely no shortage of drinking water.
This is just a thing that keeps happening in my game. From the beginning it was zombie apochalypse via neighbours, but once I started killing every new neighbour that appeared to prevent this from happening, the game has kept trying to force the zombie apochalypse on me through other means.
Space boxes infected with the virus - no problem, I know what to look out for and destroy those before they become a problem.
Random dead bodies that I have not recieved a notification for even though I should, and that for some reason is way, way, way out where the nuggets have no reason to even be walking (thus not getting picked up by the many cemetaries) - not that much of an issue, a quick heal to those infected and a removal of body, plus yet another cemetary built, it is fine.
So when all that happens and I'm still not letting the game go death by zombies, I get hit with the random mass flocking to drink from the lakes.
The nuggets literally walked past full water reservoirs to get to the lakes to drink from them.

So yeah, I kind of think there's something wrong with the mechanic itself. So in short, the issue is neither lack of god points or lack of drinking water - sadly, either of those two I could fix.

All in all though I'd say the reason I've stopped playing for so long is more due to how impossible it seems to be to leave the planet to progress the story. Leave a huge and extremely prospering population for two meager days, come back to a population of a handful of elderly. No particular reason for the mass death by the hundreds either, just poof.

How long since the last update ?

Someone told me the minions/nuggets/whatever are really stupid. Looks like they were correct. They took away sandbox mode too? How uninteresting.

I could be wrong but there is a certain trait called Coffin Dodger that can cause a zombie apocalypse and that might have started it the first time. Again could be wrong. I also heard that you want to spread your reservoirs out so they can reach the reservoirs quickly.

I've heard about those and I know I was on constant lookout for them, just in case. I never encountered a nugget with that trait though.
And my reservoirs where absolutely everywhere, but the irony is that I literally saw the nuggets walk past several reservoirs to head for a lake instead. But as I've said before, in the end it wasn't the endless zombie plague attempts that made me stop playing. Still haven't felt like playing again, sadly.
I guess we got scammed.
Did anybody manage to get his money back?

Dang. Well I have no clue how to help you, I'll just hope you have a good day.
