Everything worked flawlessly in the input department beforehand.
Games recognized the controller and the input was correct.
I have never used custom configurations, only native support.

Since the
last update, one of two things happen:
1. Games don't recognize the controller at all (e.g. The Witcher 3, symbols still show Mouse/Keyboard and no input is recognized, resulting in splash screen hanging

I'm having this same exact issue with a Xbox One S controller and the Steam Link. It works fine in big picture mode, but once a game is booted - it does not recognize any inputs.

It's a fault in fifa itself. Its the same on fifa 15. I use a ps4 controller and fifa see it as a 360 controller and a ps4 controller so I get double input. I haven't found a fix for it yet but it
's EA you want to talk to it not a SL issue

Same issue here on Windows 8.1,

Steam Controller connected to PC works with Portal 2 and a 360 Controller connected to Steam Link works with Portal 2.

But Steam Controller connected to Steam Link
regardless of its configuration fails to register any input in Portal 2. It's the only game so far where I experienced this problem.

I'm not sure if the issue is related, but I have had the same problem with a PS4 controller (steam controller worked fine) and fixed it by exiting DS4Windows or Input Mapper on the host PC. See

Really good question that is. Five years later Steam Input does not even detect my Thrustmaster T500 RS never mind being able to set ps type
controller as controller type.

8BitDo controller now gets seen by Steam Input as generic controller and yet i have previously uploaded ps4 type controller layout which config.vdf tells me is till pending

When performing a left or right-click drag gesture, pressing any Steam Link Touch Controller button will interrupt the gesture command. The issue is
for holding or moving objects around also notably suffer from this issue.
