Definitive guide on how to use FFXED save editor on FFX HD for PC (Simpler way)
THIS POST IS OBSOLETE, THE CURRENT FFXED SUPPORTS PC SAVES NATIVELY.

OUTDATED METHOD: From now on this doesn't work anymore, please, refer to the guide linked above.

You need:
-FFXED[www.sendspace.com] (Obviously)
-HxD[mh-nexus.de]
-MemorySumChecker[t.co]

I did this because I came up with this myself, and after that I saw some guides really obtuse that added a lot of innecesary steps like bruteforceSaveData an PSU templates, they converted the save file intpo PS3 fotmat and then they had to convert it back. You don't need that with my method, because the save file forma is almost identical to the original PS2 Raw data format.

1.- Open your save with HxD
2.- We'll now use HxD to shorten the file to remove a portion FFXED does not recognise. Delete everything from the adress 0x64F8 to the end (64F8 means the 000064F0 row, the 8th column, with that value included). Dont worry, this is junk code, it serves no purpose and the FFXHD game can open games without this code.
3.- Open the file with FFXED, edit whatever you want and save (The previous step was to make sure FFXED could open the file, because it doesn't recognise the PC save files directly)
4.- Use the memorysumchecker on the edited file:
4a: Open MemorySumChecker
4b: Press ctrl+O and select your edited file
4c: Make sure in the left area of the program is selected the one where "X HD" is written
4d: Press the play button
5.- Your save file is succesfully edited and ready to play!

NOTES: You need to install JAVA in your PC to run FFXED.jar

Works like a charm. Now if only pcsx2.net wasn't down we could request fuzzymillipede if he would build in support to FFXED.

I just keep getting an error saying "the parameter is incorrect" every time I try to do anything in MemSumChecker. I never am given the option to press the play button, it's always greyed out.

[EDIT] ugh, nevermind, for some reason the file names in the .rar are corrupted and the application wouldn't do anything with them because they were mojibake'd. (PROTIP: THIS IS WHY RAR SUCKS) If anyone else has this problem, just rename everything in the "Plugins" folder (including the text files) to not have gibberish characters, it doesn't actually matter what you name them.

How about no... The only thing that I didn't do myself was the MemorySumChecker as I said (and even used it in a different way).
And yeah, MemorySumChecker changes the file... You can follow my guide (wich follows completely different steps than yours) and you will see that without the MSC part the save files don't work, and after that, they work, without any need of doing anything else. I did the guide myself, and apparently I did it better than you. But if you have any problem wit me using your link, don't worry, the links are directed to my personal mega account

So no, I didn't use anything from your guide. In fact, your guide has unnecesary steps. You dont need any bruteforce software nor any template. Follow MY steps (that are different than yours) and you will see that it works.

Poor little kid, someone made something better than you and want to be credited as the original creator because you did something SIMILAR (but not equal, and it's inferior since it's more obtuse and has a lot of unnecesary steps)

Yeah, sure. Of course. Why don't you give it a try? What I'm sayuing is that MY guide is DIFFERENT than yours, because you are converting the PC save into a PS3 Save. But if you knew the original PS2 format you would know that you don't even hav to convert it to PS3 format, because it's almost directly in PS2 format!! and yeah, you maybe are butthurt, but MSC actually changes the file that opens.

Give it a try yourself, follow my steps, and you will see that it works (but it doesn't if you don't do anything with MSC).

I came out with this method myself. The ONLY thing that I had to google was the MSC, and even still, I found out a better way to use it MYSELF. So unless you have te rights to the MSC software, I copied nothing to you since my method is different than yours in EVERY single step. Even if we use te same software (come on, who doesn't use HxD when modding save files??? That's not copying, that's common sense!!)

So as I said, my guide is different as yours. Come on, please, tell me wich part of my guides copies yours!! I dare you to find any single step that has been copied from your guide! I just convert the PC save file into PS2 raw data by deleting some extra adresses!

You make people copy stuff into template files in order to do stuff, and reverse it afterwards!! That's COMPLETELY different! tell me ONE single step that I copied!
