How do I disable vort eye flare.
The vorts have shining eyes and it look so ugly and bad. I disabled lens flare and nothing. Could you add a feature to disable that when xen comes out.

The feature can't be disabled because it's important for gameplay. Things will make more sense when Interloper rolls around.

Because nothing makes a believable alien creature look better than having a huge glowing police siren beam from it's eyes.

Going by the dev comment above I assume the eye glow is a result of the Nihilanth's control and that non hostile Vorts on Xen will not have the glow.

I mean Gordon is wearing glasses.

And yes I wear glasses. If they get really dirty, lights starts to have that effect.

I don't think it's a good idea regardless.

During the Resonance Cascade you get teleported to a Xen cave where vortigaunts that don't have the eye glow help teleport you back. I'm pretty sure in the original Half-Life there are passive vortigaunts in Xen so I'm guessing it's to differentiate between aggressive and passive. I think the theory of the glow being the Nihilanth's control might be the most likely in context of the lore.

Spoiler-ish, but try spawning the xort npc. You'll know why

Chon, I think the main concern is the brightness of the eye when viewed at certain angles. Most who find it odd would probably be appeased if it were toned down by 35-65%, and/or more diffuse.

I think it looks like crap too.

It looks weird at first, but I got used to it. Looks kinda cool in dark areas, but honestly there should be an option to turn it on or off.
