A few parts of the game with reduced performance
I experience performance issues only on certain parts of the game, for example:

> When the train goes up and you have to prepare the rocket to be raised;

> When you are raising the rocket;

> When you go out and there are two marines saying that Freeman is going to pay for killing is buddies, particularly in the ensuing firefight with the two pits with machineguns around the rocket;

>Some parts of the chapter that the soldiers and the aliens fight each other (when you have an overview of the battle and there are aliens and marines, the two parts when the tank appears, these are somewhat more stable never going below 60 fps);

> Close in the chapter before forget about Freeman, after a soldier throws an explosive charge and you have to duck on water on the pipes, and you emerge from there and below there are soldier fighting zombies, this part is particularly heavy on my machine, often below 30 to 25 fps, but improves after you kill all the enemies;

> Generally when there are a lot of enemies and you throw a grenade from your machinegun or an explosive charge, and there are a lot of gibs, that also slows and stutters the framerate, not always, but particularly towards the middle chapters.

When this things happen, i generally have over 100 fps in all scenes, but after hitting these points the framerates drop to 50 and below, but never to 20 to 30.

I have a system that is more than capable of running modern games in high and medium in 1080p, played various mods for HL2 and the Stand Alone 2013 thingy update for HL2, Garry's mod, and never have experienced so many slow downs in the source games I have played.

It doesn't matter the settings i put the game on, or if is running off hdd or ssd, there are always slowdowns in these parts of Black Mesa.

-EDIT: fixed typos and grammar.

Before, in 1.0, the part that the marines shoot the vent you are in? and then you fall down and there are explosives in the door? and you escape to the outside from the car raiser? That's ONE of the parts that are greatly improved now, never going below 100 fps in my system, before it was a slideshow, why can't the devs further polish the parts that still have issues? I listed them all in my first post.

Sorry if I am being annoying, I just like this game so much and I like to see it in the best shape possible.
As I have said, the game is design locked. You have to pick between working with an annoying engine that is 18 years old to update your game versus developing your new IP.

That said, there'll be a new patch coming later down the line, but whether or not it'd address the performance, I wouldn't know.

This game pushes their version of source to the limit. It doesn't matter what your specs are or how other games run, everyone experiences drops in certain areas with lots of stuff going on. It's due to the engine.

Can i suggest that these parts are further optimized for the engine? Whats the point to lowering all graphics if even this doesn't fix the slowdowns? I will vastly prefer a version of the game that is consistent across all parts, maybe tone down the scope of some parts to what the engine can do, instead of having framerate issues all over the place.

In some parts of the game (office complex and beginning of the game) the framerate was fantastic. I replayed the earthbound levels and even some of the levels have had a further level of polish and optimization, it overall made the game more enjoyable, but those parts that run bad make it stand out even worse than before.

I noticed that the gibs system is too over the top, with so many entities spawning from a level, from crates to bodies to soldiers and aliens and a single explosion causes slowdowns, maybe add an option for reduced gibs and debrief? I think this will be the best compromise before turning the scope of some scenes down.

Source engine doesn't perform too well with large open areas. Office Complex is an enclosed space so it'd make sense it'd run better.

It has also been stated numerous times the devs performed as much optimisation they could without compromising on the visual quality, and since the game is design locked, those things are not going to happen.

THANK YOU.

Hopefully performance is fully tackled in the final patch.

Hopefully the new IP turns great, and buy it like Black Mesa.
