What if...
Opposing force 2 started off with Cpl. Shepard being awakened from dimensional stasis at the beginning of the 7-hour war by G Man to work as a covert assasain: being manipulated by the G Man and possibly combine forces into taking out earth's own command structures because they force him to some how. that would be cool. or something along those lines, i just feel like if we ever get Opposing Force 2, it should include at least a nice segment of the 7-hour war.... sometimes all it takes... is the right man.... in the wrong...... place.... Just trying to form cool ideas. Just how the Future war scenes are the best parts of the original Terminator and, T2: Judgement day. I feel like the 7-hour war is this incredible masterpiece of a story that could be explored in the half life universe, and who better than the ultimate badass underdog in the whole story, Cpl. Shepard. He wakes up, G Man gives him the deal, he starts taking out not only human targets but also vortagaunt and other previous slave race aliens who have sided with humanity as well. The whole time hes taking out targets hes unraveling the G Mans master plot, through subtle level design ques and NPC naratives, keeping to the traditional half life form of silent protagonist, all information and story gathered while in-game.

Interesting, I always thought myself that Shepard would have some major influence at least on the Resistance side of things. I also pictured that the 7 hour war was like a Terminator scenario where The Combine would infiltrate human hideouts and foil efforts.

That would be a very G-Man thing to do as well! It would be like the twist at the end of Half-Life, when you realise that your actions in Xen have not been to save the human race, but you've essentially being manipulated into doing the dirty work for a mysterious cabal of puppet-masters: the G-Man's Employers.
