I only have the game from the Denpasoft release. If someone has the Steam release and knows how to take a md5/sha/sha256 sum of the game files you can compare it to mine below from Denpasoft.
If the patching scheme is the typical, then compared to these
That beings said, if nobody else here helps you out by checking the steam release game files, I will do so myself around the weekend when I get the game here as well (I already have the full version from DLsite so that wouldn't be very helpful)
"$ md5sum nekopara_after.exe
6442c1299b389455f7a18ae79f2077d2
$ md5sum afteradult.xp3
a32a6b1e255df2442d7877a766a89ad1"
Since i am lazy i only did this for the main .exe and the patch .xp3 file and only md5sum , since thats my example on why that comparison might not work. The Steam Version of the .exe checks, if steam is running. That check is (obviously) not present in the dlsite/denpasoft version ==> difference in the .exe ==> difference in the hashvalue.
I cant easily explain, why the patch files are different, but im inclined to believe, that those are minor version differences, different timestamps or something simmilar.
==> Why am i inclined to believe that? I replaced the Steam-Patch-Files with the Files from the DL-Site version and those work just fine.
after.xp3, data.xp3, sound.xp3, steam.xp3
files? Those are the ones that would be actually important here :).
(Because if Steam forced some changes to the non-adult content, than those are the ones that will be different)
$ md5sum *".xp3"
b0429c2b75f4781d7dda37bcd13ad4fa after.xp3
a32a6b1e255df2442d7877a766a89ad1 afteradult.xp3
0339139ea013bdf442bcfe20b448fa67 bgm.xp3
2637834aa5e27648d9db4cfa6cef6da3 data.xp3
136d0137d6e1f5ac72a8269000d7f6d2 sound.xp3
b769ff26c8f192feafb9970af04ad040 steam.xp3
But as some further information, the files still seem to be freely interchangeable (except the executable ofc). I at least tried it with the data.xp3 from dlsite and replaced the steam one and game and save files still work with no issues.
So i guess i still stand by my point, that this will probably not be enough to see if there was more cut content just by filehashes alone
"like the mentioned timestamps" - just to clarify, with md5sum, shasum, etc. the file system metadata (like modification date) is not hashed, only the file contents.
Yes, this is no proof yet for further cut content in the Stream release - but it proves that it is at least a different build.
Which is sus enough that now it wouldn't be a complete waste of time form someone with motivation to extract these xp3 archives and diff the contents... Because hell if Steam forced contents to be cut from the non-adult part they should be called out for it.
Please either enjoy the game or go do something else with your time instead of coming up with nonsensical conspiracy theories. Have a pleasant day.
I'd hardly call it nonsensical. Given Steam's history with this type of content, and especially considering one of the themes in After, it was perfectly reasonable to wonder whether they had forced further cuts.
In fact, after the delay announcement and then the full version being released with the censored still being TBA, I was a little surprised it was being released here after all. But if it really was just a technical deficiency, that makes sense, too.
Yeah. I probably expresed that the wrong way. I was trying to refer to really small adjustments in file contents,
Aww…you’ll miss the “inc*st is winc*est” route over a comment confirming no cut content…
Shigure will be sad 😔
