Game Crashes on Launch due to GAMESPY COMPLETE SHUTDOWN
Dear players of The Scourge Project 1&2,

All the problems you are experiencing with this game are due to the complete shutdown of GameSpy servers and their services to provide online multiplayer games.

The game crashes because it tries to access the servers and can't find them or log in. As this is a game no longer in development we can't put the effort and ressources to make all the necessary changes for it to work again. It's sale was discontinued some time ago and we decided to give it away to owners of Scourge: Outbreak because many of them insisted in being able to play it.

We did not expect this outcome as we did not know GameSpy was going to shutdown this way, we expected tehm to leave some kind of support.

We encourage you to play Outbreak instead, which is a much better version of this game and which you should all have in your library as we gave it away to all owners of The Scourge Project.

Sorry for any inconveniences this might have caused.

Play offline doesn't even work, no workaround for that? I am able to open the game.

Way to give something totally useless away and then do nothing about it cause you do not want to....

Dear azlynneperry, it is not that we don not want to solve the problem it is just that it would be far to expensive and time consuming to do this changes for a game that is virtually dead. We gave it away because plenty of users of Scourge:Outbreak were asking for it. We couldn't expect GameSpy to totally shut down. If you have miraculous solution for us to solve it without throwing away time and money we are all ears...

Play offline works for me.

But the GameSpy shutdown is the exact reason a Single Player Game should not require a multiplayer service.

Amen to that. (single player game not needing an online service) So Correct me if I'm wrong, Tragnarion Studios: but you're saying it'd cost too much time and money to integrate steamworks into the older version IE Project 1&2. Am I correct?

I've just been sold this game as part of a bundle from Bundle stars. Has Outbreak got a single player portion?
Thanks for free old version devs as your new version keeps locking up my PC in a bad way. Least I will get to play a version of Scourge. Pity it wasn't the one I paid for though (and yes have checked forums for fixes Outbreak, nothing worked).

It is dead, yes. I think the ending sequence was just like bait for a fish. They don't work on something new.

Almost 3 years since you quoted me last, and I'd completely forgotten about this game. lol
