Controller Companion

Better then Xpadder?
My PC has always hated xpadder, crashing whenever I try to load new setups. Curious if this would offer a similar function for those old PC games like RE2/Legacy of Kain where they need a controller to be playable in a fun way, but don't offer the support. Could I set up profiles with the correct keybindings easily?

looks to me like this should really ce used in conjunction with xpadder for pc navigation. at the moment you cant assign anything to the sticks so I would higly doubt it would be good for gaming.

yeah this is purely a windows and typing interface. it dissables itself by defualt any time something goes full screen but you can fix that easy enough. however it has no way to setup a "gaming profile" so like the above said you are still going to need something like xpadder for Legacy of kain (good gaming choice btw) I DO HOPE in the future they add profile support that see's exe files for various games that would be amazing. but as it is now this is one of the best window controller interfaces i have ever seen especialy with the unrestriced rebinding of the guide button xD

Exactly. For people that don't know about Xpadder...

That's too bad. I find xpadder a pita to use and came to this forum to find out the answer to this exact question. Was really hoping it might make a decent replacement.

Is the website for xpadder just xpadder.com or something similiar? I'd hate to dl malware or anything like that...

Are there advantages for xpadder over Joy2Key?
(Whilst we're discussing the relative merits of those two versus this app.)

That's the one. It's not fancy, but that's the official site.

A handy thing is to wikipedia it, when you look anything up on wikipedia it tells you the official site source on the right side always.

If you like to hear my opinion, I bought it, downloaded it, started it and it just works. That's it. Everything works intuitive, I like the pre bindings. Browser scrolling is now smoother then with the mouse wheel, lol. I played chains of satinav today with it, it is so amazing to finally play adventure games or turn based strategy with a controller. Of course, it is not as good as the mouse but if you want to relax and have time to waste and enjoy a good point and click game, it won't get better then this (except the game allready supports controller of course). For 2,99€ I got a mouse-keyboard emulator without the hazzle of trying to edit bindings and thresholds and stuff.

I've personally used xpadder for years and emulated different things for fun (pc navigation with an arcade stick, playing Counter-strike or Dota with a 360 pad, using pads on emulators and on a bunch of old games with no pad support), always worked perfectly.

If your version of xpadder crashes, I suggest you try to download older versions of it (mine is 5.6), the newer versions seemed less stable for me as well.

I'm a bit curious about Controller Companion though, but from what I've read it's still incomplete, especially compared to what something like xpadder can provide (for free, at that).
Looks easy to use though, I might give it a try since it's pretty cheap anyway.

xpadder is not free it cost 7.99, unless you get an ilegal copy (piracy)

ive used xpadder for a lot of pc games which dont have controller support such as bad company 2/ mass effect 1 2 3/ killing floor and several others

used xpadderSeven for ages now and xpadder is free.

i dont understand why people are paying for this when xpadder is free and you can do more things in xpadder than this
