switching between environments and vram usage
Hello everybody I have this annoying issue where my gpu vram usage increases every time I change the environment. For example, if I switch from a cinema classic environment to 3rd planet, the vram usage increases from 4.6 to 6.5g, If I go back to cinema classic, the vram usage now is 7.4g, back to 3rd planet the vram is 9.4g and so on, until the vram runs out completely, and if i didnt restart VD before the vram gets full everything open needing vram start freezing/crashing on me; requiring me to restart Virtual Desktop and whatever crashed (usually the browser; flat screen games wont even start when the vram is close to full), It's very annoying and prevents me from changing environments as much as I would like to, it seems like the vram dont reset between environments; it just keeps adding up If anyone can check if they have the same problem or am I the only one experiencing this, that would be greatly appreciated. thankyou

Haven’t heard of this before and it’s not something I can reproduce from here. Share more information about your setup: version of Windows, graphics card, VR headset, etc.

it's a pico3 link HMD with evga3080ti win10, anyways here is what’s new, so I uninstalled gpu driver with ddu and put a amd 5700xt in the system, a little different but same behavior really; the only thing I noticed is amd somehow used less vram per environment than nvidia, and found that if I let the vram max out then cranked the supersampling and msaa sliders to max, the vram usage actually goes alittle lower, then I put the sliders back where I originally had them (1.7 for supersampling and x4 for msaa) now the vram usage is close to what it would be if I just started VD, this trick worked for both amd and nvidia, it’s still a pain because it only works if the vram is at full before increasing the sliders, anyway reading ur answer tells me that it’s just me having this issue, which is a bummer, but that’s all I really wanted to know. Still, if someone else could test their system and confirm that, that would be appreciated.

The Pico headsets aren’t supported with the classic app on Steam as stated in the app description. I recommend getting the app from the Pico store instead.

Pico3 link is a dual mode vr headset it has a standalone mode which use the VD in the pico store and the streamer app for wireless streaming, and it has PCVR mode which use DP cable and work just like any other pcvr headset with steamvr, I think you confusing it with pico 3(none link) or pico 4, at anycase I did try a reverb g1 briefly same problem still,

I’m well aware what a Pico Neo 3 Link is. I support it in the wireless version of the app. For the memory issue, I’d check your GPU drivers, Windows Updates, etc. Strange bug.

Ok thankyou for your time I will try reinstalling windows when I have time because if its not the VD software to blame it must be something wrong with the windows

Ok I’ve been able to reproduce the issue after a bit of trial and error. Will have a fix in the next update. Thanks for bringing this up.

Glad to hear, because the issue persists even after I reinstalled the windows, I hope you’ll be successful in fixing it, I really like your app a lot and ill be looking forward to your next update, good luck and thankyou
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
