I'm sorry to hear that Nimbatus is this power hungry (*shakes fist at physics engine* :) ). We had people who had success with disabling bloom and AA and lowering the game's resolution, and they were able to maintain smooth FPS. But it depends how much you are CPU or GPU bound. Maybe give it a try.
As you said, it's strange that a slowdown does impact the displayed playtime. Ideally we should display the time which you "sat in front of the game" than the "ingame frame count" which we most likely currently do (and therefore gives a lower number, since low fps = fewer frames "played"). Thanks for the report!
Also thanks for the report with the part that behave strangely on low fps (Afterburner) and that the egg mission does behave strangely after dying. Noted!
