monitor resolution crash on launch
Put lots of hours in this game the last year or so and it's always worked perfectly until today. Upon launch, an error occurs labeled "couldn't switch to requested monitor resolution" with details as follows:

Switching to resolution 3x0 failed, trying lower one
Switching to resolution 3x0 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: could not switch resolution (1920x1080 fs=1 hz=0)

following a discussion for another game, I went into the registry editor and changed the values to start up windowed mode and it launches. In options when I try to switch to fullscreen it immediately crashes with the same error.

It's not a big deal to play in windowed but I was just curious if anyone else has this problem? If it matters windows 10 did just update last night.

Just in case anyone stumbles on this in the future. Turns out this was affecting all of my Steam games, but not GOG or Origin or Ubisoft.

First I updated my graphics drivers and rebooted. Didn't fix the problem. Then I ran a virus scanner and malware scanner and came up with nothing. Then started launching random games from other clients and realized that those worked. Then went in to the screen preferences on Win10 and changed it to a random resolution. Suddenly the games started working. Changed the resolution back to 1920x1080 and suddenly the games started launching again.

This was really weird and out of the blue, but not an issue with Paint It Back itself.
