You might also want to use as few wooden cogs as possible, as they have high fraction. Also, you might want to look into double cogs for making speed. But be sure not to make too much speed, as wooden cogs can't really spin too fast before breaking. and more speed would mean more power is required. you can use blockmaker with windmill, but a bunch of chickens is usually better later on
No, you can't use chickens from soul crystals atm. But later on, you can do it.
You can also filter rarity of chickens with different wall heights (rare chickens jump higher).
On a sidenote, is there a potential date for steam workshop compatibility? As I simply cannot wait to see the amazing stuff people make ^^
So basically a normal chicken will generate 6 speed and 60 of torque, and a legendary chicken 10 speed and 100 of torque.
About the steam workshop, hard to say, it not a priority atm so it can be "soon" or after the 1.0. It will depend on a lot of things.
So atm the priority is to fix bugs, add more content for the game progression, improve ergonomics/UI, add controller support and add a better tutorial to replace the current quests.
Many big features may be delayed post 1.0 (so steam workshop, robots, electricity...). Hard to say atm.
I like the priorities albeit I don't think I witnessed any bugs. As for the other things the only thing IMO that is a chore/pain is getting cows :D Other than that it was all good.
Then you mentioned electricity, obviously go for whatever you think is right, but I really really love that you guys have gone for a basic kinetic machinery kind of thing. Gears and pulleys the like. Maybe if the robots need it then it's just they are wound up clockwork people? I don't know, I just think any old game can go here's a battery and a solar panel you figure it out. But gears and pulleys, with windmills and chickens no less, is wonderfully unique. I would extend that if you could. Perhaps moving water that turns water wheels. Or little soul powered ghosts on a big turbine. That'd be cute. Sorry for the ramble, I just love the style :)
Either way excellent work you guys! Keep it up <3
Yeah, the idea of electricity is not to replace the kinetic machinery.
You will need mechanical energy to generate electricity with alternators.
Chickens, windmills, etc are the first tier of energy. You have access to this at the start of the game.
Last tier will use alternators to convert mechanical energy into electricity.
But the main idea is: you still need all of this mechanical energy to produce electricity efficiently.
Maybe we will have things like sonar panels etc, but each tech will have it's tradeoff, so mechanical systems will never become useless.
For example, for alternators, you need electricity to "bootstrap" the system.
Making magnets requires electricity, magnetless alternators requires electricity.
So you will need at least a way to create a basic chemical electric battery...
Don't mind the multiple messages, steam doesn't want me to post everything in one message for some unknown reason...
It seems to be related to parenthesis.
