Report a translation problem
I think only 10% of my games the sword is close by, most of the times the sword is available but you still need to kill many monsters and keys. It would be boring if the sword was free.
Also, Maze Mode is a very short game, you could just restart if you don't like the generated maze.
Finally, Maze Mode is the only place worth using soulstones for, and they are easy to get once you finish the main game a couple of times. So maybe Maze Mode is the end game area.
Disclaimer: I'm not the maker of the game so my percentages are anecdotal.
EDIT: I can finish Maze Mode without soulstones usually about 1 in 10 games. It's challenging and short and, for me, sometimes more fun than the main part of the game.
It looks like when the boss spawns with no red door it just blindly doubles their stats without really considering whether killing such a thing is possible at all.
