Combat Animation Glitch Fix

I recently installed Civilization III Complete.

I have been getting a combat animation glitch/freeze when the
unit combat animation is finished. Also when the AI finishes its first combat the animation freezes and I do not see any additional AI Combat.

Turning off Task Manager solves the problem (Thanks Goggle search).

What does this mean, turning off task manager

I think maybe they are force closing the game from Task Manager?

Not that this really fixes it if you want the animation, but if you go into game preferences, there is an option to turn off most of the animation. I always turn off combat and several others because it just speeds up game play.
