Sid Meier's Civilization III: Complete

Civ III widescreen display in Windows 10 fixed - maybe?
After much tinkering to get this to run full screen in Windows 10 and a 16:10/ GE Radeon 900 graphics I hit upon the following - and it finally works - perfectly
Create a shortcut from the conquests .exe file on your hard drive
Go to properties - set compatibility mode for Windows 7. Check the "disable display scaling on high DPI settings".
Edit the conquests INI file - add the line KeepRes=1 (as recommended in other threads)
Start the program in steam (or the short cut).
NB - without the modified shortcut the KeepRes command didn't work.

It should be automatic:steamhappy:!!!

Son of a.... I've been playing around with this game for more than a week trying to get it to display properly and getting nowhere. This worked! Probably the only thing I didn't try was the "Check the disable display scaling on high DPI settings". Thanks, welwyn1, I got my Civ 3 back!

got win 10
added to conquest.ini KeepRes=1 works fine, widescreen and native resolution

None of these seem to work for me , i added KeepRes=1 to the .ini file. Then i did what you said with compatibility and it still doesn't work . I still get black bars on the sides when i'm playing.

Inexplicable - it also worked fine first time on a laptop I have with Windows 8. I'd make sure your display is set to its native resolution - and I found the KeepRes command didn't work until I put it on the last line of the ini file.

This just makes the problem even worse; now not only is it not widescreen but the resolution itself is smaller. Just a tiny box.

I guess I'll just have to live with my pillarboxed Civilization, better than a windowbox.

Try to press Alt+Enter.
It's sounds like windowed mode (not fullscreen).
Can you show a screenshot pls?
This worked for me !!

That's windowbox. Mine is just pillarboxed, which I can live with.
