Until then, if you really want to poke around in it you can access the "unstable" branch via your steam library.
This is a pretty standard feature I would hope you will add into the game sooner, rather than later.

Checking back on the game progress, there really hasn't been any, as 1 of the devs seems to be more interested in a new project they are focused on according to their twitter posts.
The fact that there are a few modders who are actually fixing some of these issues tells me that the passion for making this game is pretty minimum at best due to burn out, which is sad to see for such a potentially great game. =(
I really wish the devs well and hope they can find that passion again and desire to really make this game complete.
