Splattercat just reviewed this game's update.
TLDW - The game's update was a long time coming, but too little, too late. This game was good back when it was released in 2016 BUT there are other games out there that offer better innovations at a better price nowadays.

As for me, I may buy this game at some point but not at its $29.99 price point.

odd games i associate with his game due to ship regeneration is the flood series of games
particle fleet emergence, nienix, between the stars. re assembly as a few out there and the gratuitos s[ace battles games

Not sure why Blyndside got a clown emoji, because he's absolutely right. Starsector is a phenominal game, along the same general vibe as WTF zero falls. It's not on steam (sadly, for those devs), but is mature, reasonably polished and balanced, produces rich story, compelling gameplay, etc.
