Riftborn quest is broken
In the main quest line for the Riftborn you are asked to colonize a new system and raise its science to 60. After getting the quest I colonized a new system. Currently the science is above 170. It reached 60 quite a few turns ago.

In my last game the quest worked perfectly. I believe the quest may be related casting a singularity on the system. The singularity was on the system before it reached 60 science. I didn't have enough titanium in my last game to cast a singularity. The quest worked last game but it doesn't this game.

This problem has been in the game for as long as I can remember. I took about a year break since my last series of games. In the past the quest would eventually register. It is beginning to look like it won't go in this game.

Are you sure the system in question was at most an outpost at the moment of choosing the quest objective? You did say you colonized after, but just making sure. Also it can't be an invaded or a former minor faction's system.

Basically there's NetSystemResearch and SystemResearch, two separate variables, and NetSystemResearch is what the quest compares, also some things don't count for that value, I know very little what does and doesnt, but for example flat Science from Heroes doesn't count to NetSystemResearch. Population Science and flat building science does count, this is the go-to way of mine of completing this objective: settling possibly a Barren planet and just building 2 Riftborns, if it's not Barren then gotta slap Cerebral Reality in. And this always worked in my cases. But at 170 Science it's very hard not to reach 60 NetSystemResearch. Maybe something in quest logic is broken.

The system in question was not an outpost before the quest started. It had not been invaded or a system from a minor faction. Since I play Riftborn a lot, I basically reserved the system until the quest started.

The planet I colonized was a barren planet. I did create two Riftborn. That's when the quest should have completed. I did assign a hero to the system and I did put on a singularity. They may not have contributed to the NetSystemResearch. However, there was more than 60 NetSystemResearch anyway.

I can produce a save if that would be helpful.

A few turns after posting this issue, the quest did finally complete. At the time the system had 210 science.

For issues like these, saves are always valuable, as they allow us to take a look under the hood of the quests at the variables.

How do I deliver a save to you?

You could search for: "free file upload service" and make use of one of your choice. Then post upload link here.

This is still happening.

I did raise minor faction science to that level, and subsequently raised non-minor faction science to that level. Maybe if you get a non-qualifying planet there first no other planets ever qualify? Or are you literally looking for exactly 60 science, no more, no less?

As a new ES2 player it's a little disheartening to have the core questline of a faction with a great dramatic hook simply fail at the word go.

Weekly bump.

Similar problem in my Umbral Choir playthrough - quest wants 3 heroes on fleets, I have 2, counter sits there showing a 0 for Heroes on Fleets. Quest vs counting... ???

So, it seems the bug has not been fixed. Has anyone found a workaround?

your resurrecting a 5 year old post, normally i choose kill cause i prefer the building with approval over the hero. If your going for that route though, I think u need too use a colony ship that finished building the turn after you pick this quest line. Move it then begin the colonizing process.
