Obtain bonus weapon modules?
I just learned that there were a couple of special weapon modules (Railguns, Swarm Missiles) that may have been linked to a Games2Gether promotional event (as far as I can tell?). Although they don't seem that good, is there any way to obtain them now?

These are normal modules. You could get it through linking a Steam account on Aplitude's website. Maybe they just added it as a free dlc?

I have them... they showed up at some point but I don't remember doing anything to enable them.

I do have the ESG mod that might be affecting it?

I also bought the paid DLCs gradually so it might have come from one of them... I've got everything but Penumbra and Awakening.

Railguns utilize a special mechanic that allows them to ignore armor plating and shields to deliver damage directly to the ships HP pool. The reason they look underwhelming is because you are not taking into account the damage mitigation your other weapons suffer when they impact the target due to the aforementioned defenses. Swarm missiles are underwhelming by themselves, till you realize they soak up enemy flak defenses so your other missile weapons have a clear line to the target. They are niche weapons for sure but can be pretty powerful when fielded correctly.

In game or download?

Seems I did create a games2gether account some 5 years ago, and I have the "community challenge" addon listed under rewards there... the curious things is I didn't have railguns and swarm missiles show up until recently... like within the last year.

I'm not sure if that's the addon that those modules come from, I can't find anything that specifically says what modules are in the addon.

EDIT:
Nevermind, found a Fandom wiki page that says that is where they came from.
