there is several ways, especially if you want to do more illegal stuff.
Money is really tight if you don't want to do illegal stuff until your a professional though. I did a LOT of construction work...

you need to train so you can beat the muggers that keep robbing you, the game wont let you have more than 100$ at a time without being mugged, you have to be able to beat the robbers.

lol , it's ridiculous but true , the town seems full of world beating fighters who happen to be muggers instead of world champions. You beat a champion but then on the way home a mugger far tougher beats you up and steals half your money , its just silly.

they need to fix that it kills the immersion of the game, actually they need to fix a bunch of things, it's not a bad game just needs some adjustments.

defeat muggers 3 times andthey stop bothering you, also you get a quest to meet their boss, if you accept his job offer you will get 100bucks every 3 days.
