And when you say 10 pops, do you mean 10 missions for those things?
So I can play those missions 10 times and get only a guaranteed to 10 thoughts towards a character I’m going for?
comissions drop either 2 thoughts or 10.
10 has 10% chance (advertised and confirmed over many runs), 2 has about 30% chance (statistics from 560 runs).
max upgrade (char + 6 dupes) takes about 130-135 runs.
10 thoughs has soft pity (PER CHARACTER): first 4 runs have extremely low chance (<1%), then it slightly ramps up and end ups close to 100% at 15 runs. There were some very rare reports of getting it after 15 (but I haven't seen anything with definitive proof). There's a rumor that 20 is hard pity.
2 thoughts have no soft or hard pity - it's completely random. Sometimes you can have 10+ runs with no drops, sometimes you get 5 in a row.
techincally you you get 3 drops and choose 1, I'm talking about chances of the best choice (that is always first one).
Now secret letter farming is actually very fair here, with people even talking about pity caps. You can get a character/weapon/wedge (or an intron to upgrade a character) in roughly 20 to 30 secret letter uses.
The best and fastest way I've found is using your main character with the Embla bow and some buffs to skill and Lumino damage, and wait for the Dismantle commission to show up. I advise leveling up both MC and Embla bow to at least 70, skills to level 8, while also doing the main story to get their introns. This way you can just shoot down the three targets, even through walls, with empowered light shots that can destroy them with a single arrow. You can also use a geniemon with the deft attribute to skip the lock mini game. This way I have obtained characters, weapons, and wedge blueprints in less than 15 minutes.
All characters and weapons are free via normal play.
You get things called "Secret Letter Clues" from basically everything you do in the game, and there is no limit to how many you can farm besides how long it takes you to farm them. You could take a 3 day weekend and farm secret clues all day and obtain and max most of the characters with fully dupes without ever spending a penny.
Secret Letter Clues let you buy Secret Letters to then open, opening the letter gives you 3 random choices, a gold pop is the rarest and can give 10 character fragments, silver pop is the 2nd rarest and also has a chance of giving 2 character fragments. The common bronze pop has no chance of character fragments. It takes 30 fragments to unlock a character, or a dupe for a character.
If you already have enough Clues, you can easily fully max dupe a character within about 1.5-3 hours of play time.
I’m glad you can, but that is way too much time investment especially since I think you’re talking actual optimization and that is not something I go into these games for
Cause it sounds like you’re talking collecting thousands of scrap and then doing hundreds of missions within an hour or two which sounds actually impossible for someone who has no luck with these kinds of games
As far as time investment and luck goes, I say DnA farming is a bit better than average when comparing to some other games with grind out there. The grind in this kind of game involves playing the same (usually easy) stuff repeatedly to get a reward, unlike games where the reward comes from doing something very difficult but only once or twice. One difference in DnA is that at least I'm getting something bit by bit, which feels like a boon after playing games where I can grind for days and come out empty handed. For example, that's what turned me away from Genshin.
I personally do not know of any game of this kind where people can get a reward very easily and in very little time (unless it's an event). It's usually one or the other, so maybe games with long boring grind sessions may not be for you. You could try games with faster but more challenging tasks and see if that's more of your liking. And I say this because under no circumstance will I tell you to open up DnA's cash shop to get characters from it, as that method is really expensive and totally worthless.
It's not about luck. It's about time investment. If you invest the time you will 100% guaranteed get the characters you want and max them out.
This game is quite casual friendly. Many characters are fine at low intron levels, average amount of letters to get full copy is about 20-25, sometimes less. Some covert comissions take a minute or two to complete, and you definitely don't need a level 70 character to farm them, level 40 or even 30 is enough. Try it yourself. I played it since release day, and some things i read at this forum would actually scare me if i didn't play this game already.
I created a new account yesterday for a test, finished entire story in a single day, then got Rhythm to i2 and she literally obliterates everything even without strong build in most missions. Probably not the best character for bosses, but there are other options, like Psyche. She is good even at i0 and unlocks almost entire potential at i2.
So yeah, there are other games out there that can serve you much better. Good luck and have fun.
