Lich vs Demilich

So I just recently picked the game up and went for a necromancer in the empire start. Now I took over the Capitolium and became a Lich and I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to immediately become a Demilich.

It seems like I'd lose a lot of power in battle by doing so, since a demilich apparently can't reliably move around on the map anymore. Is there anything I'm missing or would it be best to for now keep using him in battles with his spells that wipe out 10-20 single tile pale ones in a single cast, and then become a demilich once I have trained up some of my apprentices and other spellcasters? I currently have an ice witch, sea magician dude and white wizard, aswell as one not insane tier 2 necromancer. They're not particularily trained up yet and can't really bring the power that my main guy can, which is why I'm hesitant. I also haven't even done anything with his abilities to traverse hades yet.

Keep him as a Lich, until you have something else that can match his current level of badassery. When you manage to level up your other necromancer and/or turn him into something nasty, or when you manage to summon something that can hit as hard as a lich, then consider turning the first lich into a demilich. But think it through, because as you have already noticed, it might not be a great trade-off. Use the demilich only if you can actually make it work (if you have enemies in so many placed that he's bound to hit SOMETHING, or if you just want him as a near-indestructible guard for a location), don't do it just because you can.

Demilich is also handy to port behind enemy lines and raise an army out of their LOS. I usually only go Demi if I don't have a reliable way to crack a late game enemies frontal defenses.

demi is the very inacurate nuke ... if it hits it kills

where as a lich is a seal team might not be a nuke but a hell of alot easier to use and aim

I agree with the above posters it sounds like your still relatively early in your game. Keep the lich. Demilich is awsomely powerful put harder to use. I tend to use them later in the game to teleport behind enemy lines and nuke citadels and raise armies of the dead on top of the remains.
