v.2.0: Large units no longer have wall climb, grub no longer has amphibious, statues now have passwall.
v.1.01 Fixed issues related to icon name, added nonplaceholder icon.

So, Pale Ones suck in vanilla. This is undisputed. But it doesn't have to be this way. I don't think their toolbox is necessarily bad, simply expensive in some regards and easily neutered in others.

This mod attempts to address three of the things that I feel drag down their effectiveness the most; unreasonable costs for rituals after tier 1, powerful and expensive ancients being ruined permanently by a single arrow to the eye, and a lack of reliable options for dealing with walled locations and defending said locations after the fact.

To this end, ritual costs have been reduced to bring them more in line with a model where higher tier rituals are more efficient than their lower tier counterparts, Pale One recruitable units possess the Fast Healing trait, and large units possess the capacity to climb over walls.

I have also taken the liberty of giving cave grubs amphibious. This shouldn't drastically change anything about the tedium of the Agartha exploration minigame.

Haven't tried mod yet, but I feel like giving grubs amphibious will make it a no-brainer for Pale Ones to drown entire Agartha and therefore deny it to everyone else who doesn't have amphibious units. Of course they already can do that, but it'll require careful planning beforehand. In vanilla it is more of strategic choice how you are going about digging and how much entry points you make since enemy can use it as well.
Although it would be fine if there were more ways to access Agartha for other classes.

Thank you! I love Pale Ones, but they are a chore to win with. I'll check this out in my next game with what I've started calling the Elysium contingent :)

Viable Pale Ones now has its own github link separate from the AwfulCoEMods repository and its own nonplaceholder icon.
