A few modding limitation questions
I've taken a cursory glance over the modding options, but I take it, there is no way to define a new resource or assign arbitrary production rates for such?

I also take it that there is no way to make an effect target a specific non-pre defined set of units? Like, I see affectanimal, etc. but I can't make a custom affect target with a list of monsters?

Can not set gem production nor a new custom resource, nor varying resources unless you make multiple terrains with different values and change them with events or another way.

You can set some specific target types: adding "affectanimal" to a weapon allows it to only affect monsters with the animal attribute, also a few others such as affectundead.

Yeah, I saw affectanimal, but if I wanted to have something like.. affectlevies or affectspiders, I can't define those, I take it?

Unfortunately no, it would be great to have a modding command "affect" then put a monster name after it or something like that.

The best you have for weapon modding are the resistance attributes found on page 9 of modding manual.
