Looking good, and very fun, although perhaps very strong too – but I only tried them out very briefly now, so I don't know how they play in the long run.
Some quick complaining from a Linux user again, though: Although your sprite file names seem to be all lowercase (nice), there were the following instances of uppercase in the mod file:
- Draconian Veteran (both sprites I think).
- Draconian Captain (both sprites I think).
- Draconian wizard_a
(Which I had to edit in order for the game to find the sprite files on Linux.)Thanks and of course I'm back with the Draconians. I corrected the caps and redirected the link to the corrected version - knew you would find a couple.
Thanks!
Changes for this version: at least the ones I remember
Reduced some of the abilities of the Draconian Lord, Lieutenant, and Black Draconian
ie Removed solar magic ability from Lord
Reduced strength, MR, and morale
Reduced weapon bonuses
Added descriptions to most units
Added more summoned characters to generate more variety and scarcity
Raised the cost of some of the summoning
Raised the cost of the Draconian Wizard, Security Force, and Red Draconess
I hope you enjoy and please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions.
Elemental vulnerabilities is added by having negative resistances e.g. "fireres -50" to get fire vulnerability 50.
Draconians are a magical mix between humans and dragons. The society is divided into several castes and believe that all non-draconian races are meant to serve. The Draconian Lord, and to a lesser extent, his Lieutenant can summon dragons to guard mines. Dragons and their kin (drakes, wyrms, etc.) for the most part, serve as immobile guardians but are limited to one summoning per mine unless the dragon guardian is killed. Another can be summoned if the Draconain Lord regains control of the mine. Elite Caste Draconians, Red, Blue, Purple, Green, White, and Yellow, will offer their allegiance when they feel it beneficial. The Warrior Caste Draconian units are typically drafted from the hatchlings of the same egg clutches creating very tight cohesive military units. The warriors are typically very well armed and armored. Most of the smaller bands are self motivated, expected to operate independently, and do not need a leader to be effective units. Because of this, leaders among the warrior caste are rare. Many of the warrior caste units are also equipped with small crossbows, very effective in ambushing enemy units often allowing them several shots before battle is engaged. Draconians believe humans and other Elysium races are beneath them except for those that have proven themselves in combat. Draconians also have a deep admiration for magic so wizards are about the only non-draconian caste readily accepted.
