Game Crashes on Linux (Solus)
Hi, I bought this game when it was first released, and I absolutely love it! However, I have not been able to play it since the LOD optimization updates. I can start the game through Steam on Solus, using both the Steam runtime as well as the Native runtime provided by Solus, and I've tried to force 32-bit as well, but to no avail. In all instances, trying to open or create a level ends up crashing the game. It crashes once it gets to the loading screen, specifically when it gets to "rendering nearby chunks". It tries to load the level, but just jumps back and forth between the level and the loading screen. Most times I can alt-tab and close or pkill the program, but once it actually managed to crash my computer (how that's possible, I'm not sure). I've only been able to start the game once, and it was when I had literally everything to the minimum (no effects, and 100 chunk draw distance). It eventually crashed mid-game, however. I have tried playing with shaders on, as well as off, and have played with all settings to see if I can get it working. Again, to no avail. Before the update, I was able to run it comfortably at 500 chunks. With and without shaders.

I am running Solus 3 64-bit (Linux Kernel 4.12.14) and am running on an AMD® A10-5745m apu with radeon(tm) hd graphics × 4. There are no proprietary drivers for me to use.

If you need me to do any trouble-shooting, I am available today to do so.

Thanks, and keep up the awesome work (despite my troubles)!

Seeing as you've been running since release, perhaps get rid of the libstdc++-6.so that I bundled with the original release? I know that's been causing stability problems.

cd to "(steam path)/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Voxel Turf" and
rm libstdc++-6*
A copy of that file is provided in the LINUX_

You can in the meantime safely revert to 1.0.12 (savegames are backwards compatible, at least that far)

i'm currently working on VRAM usage for 1.0.15, as that's the thing that's really blown up.

Ok, well I actually uninstalled and reinstalled before posting this, so I don't know if the standard c++ library thing still applies, but I did remove the one from the LINUX_stdlib folder, and it still did the same thing.

I don't mind simply reverting until a fix is released, but "oldversion" only goes up to 1.0.10. Is that right?

oldversion1.0.12 does exist, its between 1.0.11 and 1.0.2 in the list.

I've also reduced memory usage in 1.0.15 internal build, but it stills needs work/testing.

I am trying to run the game on Windows 10 via Parallels. I'm having the exact same problem as ChristianTheSatanist described and 1.0.12 won't start whatsoever, just instantly crashes as soon as I try to start the game in steam. I just submitted my crash logs to your email.
