Have any ideas for high work force 2 by 4 industrial lots?
Do you guys have any idea for industrial buildings that I could create on 2 by 4 lots that could plausibly have three or four floors and have one hundrend or more people working in them? ( Besides power plants, which I've already made one, but as of time I'm writing this, I haven't uploaded yet. Also I remembered after making it, that Snapper said he wants to eventually add utilities to the game. ) I'm having troubling thinking of any such buildings that actually exist in the real world. Normally factories are only one or two floors, and I don't know of many that are more than that.

I'm asking this, because I'm hoping to be able to make a big city with lots of big tall buildings, and I don't want to make it so that most of the land is covered by factories. I would also like to add this building to my Alpine City lot pack, in part to make up for the fact that the toy factory, which is also on a 2 by 4 lot, still only has a max of 58 workers, which is significantly less than the smelter, but I wouldn't be able to change that without significantly altering the design of the lot.

Do you guys have any suggestions for large 2 by 4 factories that I could build?

Cloth factory, with reams of cloth going up and down and round and round.
Vertical farm, with floor upon floor of greenhouses.
Chemical plant, with huge vats of toxic sludge and/or molten rock.
Smartphone assembly sweatshop, with safetly nets outside the upper windows.

Thanks for the suggestions! Don't know if I'll end up making any of those, but I might.

That sweatshop, I remember something about suicidal workers, hence the nets.

Which also reminds me of supposedly recreating a certain UNESCO Heritage-tagged Silk Farm.

Now I think about it again, the vertical farm would probably be better for a 2x2.

I also thought of a vehicle assembly plant, but since the actual vehicles aren't voxelised, it may be difficult to make that look like it's producing them.

Another option could be facilities for assembling white goods - washing machines, ovens, refrigerators, etc.

How about water desalination plant, sewerage treatment plant. A dam would be a spectacular build, would be much bigger than a 2x4 lot though.

Craigroaring,

Thanks for the suggestions. A desalination plant would make a fine addition to the game, except I'd have to set it up to require being near water, in order to make sense, which would mean that it would never pop up automaticaly. I don't even think a dam would be possible, not just becouse it would have to be on a much bigger lot, but becouse unfortunitally, there's now way to place a building on a body of wather in this game, without deleting the water.

You can use the WATER_NEAR special effect. Check the Sawmill building in vanilla.txt, and replace HILLS_NEAR with WATER_NEAR

Note: buildings with special effects do not spawn naturally (in city gen or by zones).

Thanks. I already knew that buildings with special effects don't spawn naturally through, that's one of the reasons why I probably won't make a desalination plant anyway.

Maybe build an abattoir. You could call it Bovine University.
Storage units would be an easy build.
