i saw there is a nest thing to hatch them i don't know what its called i had it before, just started playing again so don't remember what its called, once i find it i will update my comment. :D

I got a couple chicks from boxes but they're hungry and won't seem to eat the chicken feed?

Chicks are from a mod. You'll need to read the documentation from the mod on how to take care of them. But from what I remember they don't do anything. They don't grow up and don't eat the chicken feed. They require a water dish but I think they're always hungry. Check the documentation for the mod that they're from

you need the chick water bowl to feed them, i also notice that adult chickens will eat from it too.

also the mod your talking about what i see with chicks they have a small water bowl like a normal pet bowl, the one im talking about i think is for the base game chicks, not sure if the mod ones grow up

There are no base game chicks. Only mods with chicks. The chicks were never added to the release version of Staxel or the ability to hatch them

why do they have it in the post then?

The post you gave a link to was their dev log talking about the game development. The post was from 2016 which was almost 2 years before early access came out. The devs must have decided that they weren't going to add them.
