Staxel
So if I am reading this right Staxel CE
Adds nothing except Linux and Mac support and brings a held-back version of the game?
And does this mean all future updates from now are going to have to consider Staxel CE when released and have to purposely be held back due to the limitations in CE?

It’s more likely the opposite. Apart from the smaller island size, the new CE engine will be held back, so that it’s compatible with the old Staxel version.

Yes But at the cost of smaller Island and less features and modding capabilities. i tested 2 mods I made myself for my group and its abysmal and I warn everyone, nay, I beg of you DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

What do you mean you tested mods? You can’t test mods for CE because it doesn’t have mod support?

As for less features, it has more features than the original. Off the top of my head, bugs are now truely random (they don’t spawn at set locations), trees drop leaves animations, NPCs will randomly sit on chairs, benches, toilets etc.

The only feature it’s missing is 3rd person view but devs have said they will try to make that a high priority since it is a highly requested feature.

I'm just going to point out: Staxel CE *isn't* replacing the base Staxel game. It's a lighter, less resource intensive version that's good for systems that can't handle the full game. You're getting both versions of the game for one price. The *same* price they were charging for OG Staxel. It's sort of like Java Minecraft and Bedrock Minecraft. They're 99% the same game, content wise.

Why is this comparison so accurate? :steamhappy:. The moddable OG Java minecraft vs the newer completely rebuilt bedrock minecraft. And you even get both versions with your initial purchase.

I checked CE out. It looks like I Can't even remap sprint. I do enjoy the better UI and other changes made, but some quality changes should be considered for the main branch as well. Right now it just feels a bit divided with both versions not having each others best features.

Oh and the relationship hearts. CE has better indicators that you’ve reached the max daily conversation relationship points.

And the winter festival building has been upgraded in CE.

Haven't checked CE out yet, but it sounded great I wondered if I should try. But did I undertsand correctly that it doesn't support mods? Like never or just not yet? That'd be a huge let down tbh

Even if it ever does, most/all present mods wouldn't work on it as-is. They changed some of the internal engine stuff, so (just like Minecraft or Skyrim) a modder would have to make two versions.

This CE version is so UGLY :o
One thing is great, the UI scale is better
The rest is garbage, no graphic options, seems like you're playing with a plastic bag on screen

That's unnecessary. As pointed out, CE does NOT replace the fullest version of the game. This is exactly like Minecraft having two versions, except you don't have to purchase both separately, instead getting them for a rather affordable price.
