Patch Notes 1.5 Hideaway Hollow
Summary:
New:
* A new villager.
* A new questline involving Rem.
* A whole new island to explore.
* Lots of new blocks, including furniture, flowers and tiles.
* New pets. (Two of which are unlocked in the pet store.)
* New farm animals.
* New VIP merchant.
* New crops to grow.
* New bugs to catch.
* New fish to catch.
* New achievements.


Changes:
* A completely redone tutorial involving most of the villagers.
* Night transitions are now much shorter.
* Pet following changes.
* Reset Key Bindings option has been added for the custom keybindings.


Fixes:
* Fixed certain cases that caused black screens.
* Discord, and other recording programs, should be able to capture the game properly again.
* Fixed players getting disconnected during night transitions.
* Fixes for world holes showing up.
* Fixed some issues with the game not pausing.
* Numerous quest progression fixes.




Full Changes:
New:
* A new villager by the name of Tomti.
* A new questline involving Rem.
* A new island has been added. Includes caves and more.
* A new VIP merchant which appears partway through the new questline.
* 13 new bugs to catch.
* 7 new fish to catch.
* 6 new crops to grow. (4 of which have golden variants)
* 3 new farm animals.
* 6 new pets. (2 of which are unlocked with and sold alongside the Cat and Dog.)
* New recipes.
* New dialogue windows to help explain mechanics during the tutorial.
* 100+ new tiles added. Including furniture, decorations and blocks.
* Added 5 new achievements.


Changes:
* A completely redone tutorial.
* Non-server owning players can now do the tutorial.
* Tutorial is spread out over several ingame days.
* Adjusted Leif’s postal quest for use in the tutorial.
* Adjusted Riah’s fishing spot quest for use in the tutorial.
* Water crops achievement can now be gotten by watering hoed dirt as well.
* Players can no longer spawn with a hoe and shovel if they have completed the tutorial. (Now given early on in the tutorial instead.)
* Selling item achievement only cares about selling an item and not selling a crop.
* The first villager arrival will happen on day 10, or when the tutorial is completed. Whichever is later.
* Can no longer get villager friendship quests without finishing the tutorial.
* Default chat speed is now 1.5x. (.5x chat speeds are now selectable.)
* Added a postbox to the farm for new worlds. (And other minor updates to the barn.)
* Changed backend rendering system.
* Should have less Black Screens.
* Should play nicer with recording software. (For example: Discord)
* Improved Night Transition times.
* Players will also no longer disconnect during long night transitions.
* Night transition time is especially improved on days where islands are reset.
* Reset key binding option has been added to the keybinding menu. As well as size adjustments.
* Pet following behaviour has been changed.
* Pets slow down when getting close to the owner.
* Pets will now get bored if the owner is not moving around. (Leading them to seating, sleeping, begging etc.)
* Pets will not immediately start following until the owner is a certain distance away.
* Pets will interrupt sleeping and sitting in order to follow their owner.
* Non-owners can get pets to follow. (Owner can always get a pet to follow them, even if it was following someone else first.)
* Other pet adjustments:
* Cat, Dog and Rabbit houses are no longer offset off their tiles.
* Some pet behaviours have been adjusted to last longer and to not follow players as much if they are nearby.
* Pet hunger and wellbeing has been changed to not get as affected when multiple days have passed without being fed.
* Pets following a villager will no longer get hungry, nor unhappy.
* Forest Bunny no longer has 2 sets of eyes and the tail has been recoloured.
* Rabbit ears no longer have a gap between them and the head during some animations.
* Town Square and Festival grounds now have protection enabled by default.
* Festival grounds protection gets disabled during certain festivals.
* Postman now leaves after Midday. (Previously 9:30-10am.)
* Building store and General store now sell items at tier 1 to get each other to tier 2.
* Building store also sells more items to repair other town buildings.
* All grasses now spread.
* All grasses can now be hoed into dirt.
* All grasses now have seed packets which can be bought.
* It is now more common to get more expensive seeds out of mixed seeds.
* A large number of model adjustments:
* Fixed colouring on a number of tiles.
* Fossils are more consistent with each other.
* Some model size adjustments.
* Golden coffee bean now looks like a bean.
* Red stone has been made more red.
* Town Square and Festival grounds archway model has been adjusted to suggest that they are a marker.
* A new tile with the old look Festival grounds marker look.
* Sequoia wood tiles using the wrong file.
* Hoeing dirt will now give a more descriptive error if there is a tile above that it can’t break.
* Pet Shop displays and Troughs have been made 1 wide instead of 2 wide.
* Buying and selling adjustments
* Buying and selling items now use 4 digits of precision instead of 2. (So 199900 instead of 190000)
* Changed rounding mode on buying/selling. Stone and other 1 petal goods will no longer go to 0 petals when selling too many.
* If an item is to be sold for 0 petals, it is still allowed to sell.
* Npc Adjustments
* Cirahna spawn day has been changed from 42 to 30.
* Villager tables and rewards are now purchasable from catalogue once unlocked.
* Leif will now spawn at the General store when starting a new world.
* Max will prefer to be next to chairs in the town more often.
* Adjusted spawn logic of Morel’s Mushrooms and Oscar’s Trash during quests.
* Oscar’s trash quest now has some leniency if some trash is still existing.
* Make it so Leif’s Friends quest can be triggered if giving him an item.
* No longer need to talk to Wren 3 times before having her accept to be a postal officer for the village.
* Cirahna and Morel are now required before you can start Eris’s liked quest.
* Changed it so Eris, Jamie and Oscar will arrive after Emelia and Cecile, if not already spawned in the village.
* Cirahna will try to wander less often, and will prefer being in her home when it is built.
* Category Fixes:
* Farm furniture sets are no longer tagged as mushrooms.
* Fireflies can no longer spawn on the ocean.
* Fossils can no longer spawn on fences.
* Lots of bugs now have the right categories.
* Mail can now comfortably show 2 lines for topic titles.
* Can’t sleep notification when game is paused but tutorial has been completed has been changed.
* Bacon can now be eaten.
* Orange, red and yellow juices are now drinkable.
* Butter, Cream and Dark wood blocks are now starter recipes.
* Old trash can now works like the new trash can.
* Improved shoulders on most NPC’s. (Less color flickering on shoulders.)
* Wand no longer says it waters tiles.
* Pumpking Feast Maze no longer has a pillar of grass blocks on a corner.
* Coconut Tree has been rotated so the trunk is over the main tile.
* Debug building tools now place random alts.
* Axe can now spam clicked to destroy blocks, similar to the pickaxe.
* Rosemary will now ask the player to remake her shop if it is broken.
* Control hints are now always shown when creating a new world.
* The Special Mushroom for Morel now gives a pink glow.
* Communications tower and resource signs will now show on the map.
* Town hall requires desks instead of bureaus.
* If a villager is forced to stay still due to a quest, they can no longer talk about daily quests, nor get daily quests.
* Cirahna now causes two look direction updates in case she fell down a tile when getting up.


Fixes:
* Fixed a case where time would advance after unpausing.
* Fixed a case where time did not pause when loading into a world.
* Fixed some cases where the player’s outfit would get lost after transforming.
* Fixed shop shelves sometimes spawning with no items on the first day.
* Fixed merchants sometimes not spawning on the first day.
* Fix NPC’s appearing under ground if they have not moved yet.
* Fixed some cases where extreme lag could occur and caused disconnects.
* Fix losing items completely if a quest item is inserted into a full inventory.
* Fixed daily quests thinking they expired at midnight and not after dawn.
* Made duplicate vip merchants less common, including previous merchant checking to see if they should disappear after some time has passed.
* Fixed a bug which could cause mail to be overwritten when a modded mail goes missing.
* This fixes cases of an unread mail staying unread even when being read.
* This fixes getting duplicate mail from a source.
* This fixes being able to continue getting rewards from a single mail.
* Fixed cases where players could talk to NPC’s, which stopped them, but not initiate dialogue.
* Fixed spreading tiles preferring to go towards a single corner, and thus spreading in lines.
* Fixed totems being considered valid tier 0 even if some building requirements are not met.
* Fixed dogs being unable to beg.
* Fixed some cases where a villager would never ask to arrive.
* Fixed cows and other animals jumping super high, and through roof’s in some cases.
* Fixed Farm fan not always going to the Harvest Festival in all cases.
* Allowed Max to fix more cases where a tutorial was not completed correctly.
* Fixed Left handed offsets being wrong for many items.
* Fixed Leif’s and Morel’s tile rewards acting like tables when they weren’t.
* If a villager loses it’s outfit for whatever reason, it will now get replaced with their default outfit on world start.
* Fixed some cases where sprinklers would not get registered and therefore would not water plants at night transition.
* Fixed spawning another Stray Cat whenever Rosemary’s liked quest is completed.
* Fixed Rosemary potentially getting stuck after completing the Stray Cat quest.
* Fix having to click multiple times for option dialogue to show when talking to merchants.
* Fix merchants sometimes not saving their dialogue on world close, which meant they could repeat dialogue they shouldn’t.
* Fixed the dialogue capture breaking if pausing when talking to merchants.
* Fixed the Rainbow Butterfly requirement on the Museum not showing up on the right quest.
* Fixed players will no longer switch between swimming and standing constantly
* Fixed crash in dialogue if it asked to remove multiple items of a category, but they were different items.
* Fixed a case where getting the Tractor Fossil was impossible. (Talk to Farm Fan if you have this issue.)
* Fixed a case where you could be stuck at the Treetop village. (Talking to Rem should resolve this now.)
* Fixed a bug where quest tiles would be counted multiple times, and would not be removed properly in certain cases.
* Fixed cases where players could do Jamie’s first and final quest out of order and locking them out of progressing it.
* Fixed cases where Yoshi and Damian could disappear forever with no way of getting them back.
* Fix some cases where compound tiles could stick around when a tile’s size has been changed.
* Fixed a case where postmen may not spawn at all. (Talk to Leif if you are currently having this problem.)
* Fixed info book talking about the Hoe when trying to get the Hammer.
* Fixed Santa hat removing hair.
* Fixed Aliza only showing 7 of 8 options when her store is broken.


Modding:
* Mod manager and Steam launcher can now detect what mod caused staxel to fail to start, and give that to the user.
* New offmaps are now loaded in when the world is started as long as they are added to world gen.
* Ability to add weathers to be set when going to an offmap island.
* Added logging for when dialogue changes between nodes.
* Auto tiling will now resolve compound tiles to their main tile. (This means large tile can now be the target of auto tiling.)
* If a dock tile is removed, it should drop the items stored on it.
* Catchables now check if their tile exists when content building.
* Can now specify if a VIP merchant should only appear after a global is set.
* A number of new dialogue commands.
* Replacer item component now gives a default notification tile of dirt.
* The ability to edit the following files with patches: Worldgen.config, villagerPools.config, criticalVillageBuildings.config, worldGen.config
* Fixed issue where not all dialogue commands were validated if they were contained in an if statement.
* Fixed a bug which would cause dialogue crashing if options were added to an if statement, and one branch had no options.
* Added the ability for Farm Fan to temporarily stay at a location.
* A block type has been added to pop up on screen guides if interacted with.
* Treasure now make sure to check for items that crashed
* Can be disabled with “bypassItemCheck”.
* Structure color limits have been upped to 4095 colours.
* Added ways to check to see if a file exists or doesn’t exist before doing a patch.
* “patchIfFileExists” or “patchIfFilesExists”
* “patchIfFileDontExist” or “patchIfFilesDontExist”
* A file has been added so mods can patch extra categories to not add for daily fetch quests.

I have a question. I started Tomti's quest and am at the point where he asks me to find him in his game room but I've went there several times and couldn't find him. I even checked other places but couldn't find him anywhere. Did I do something wrong? Or do I have to wait? Please help me.

Something is creating music in the gameroom. Perhaps you should interact with it.

If you wait a couple days after finishing the new quest at the island. Things should happen and bring a new merchant to the village.

Did you finish up talking to both Tomti and Rem at the end? Tomti should come to town after a day or 2?

Yeah, Rem is gone, and Tomti got a tier 2 house and just runs around for half a season. And yes, sometimes I talk to him, but he said nothing new.

Do you have an active airship landing that is spawning the VIP merchants?

When getting Tomti's house it activates a certain person you know to come and sell you new things in the update. Including furniture and seeds.

So you're saying this lonely airship is the "new VIP merchant"? Products change daily; do I need to check every day for new seeds and recipes? Hopefully the RND is not the same as for Moon Beam Bug...

I can´t find the moon beam bug, i looked a complete year every day but i cannot find it. Are there any special conditions for it to spawn?

I've also spent many hours searching to no avail: Moon Beam Bug. Probably the developers think that it is very exciting to spend hours looking for something that does not exist :\
Also, running to the airship every day in anticipation of new seeds is in no way exciting. Autumn has come and I finally got one of the new types of seeds to grow in spring or summer.

Actually, after a couple of hours to complete a new quest, the gameplay boiled down to the following: woke up - ran to the airship - teleported to the island - examined all the birches - came back and went to bed. The update is clearly focused on wasting players' time.
