Modern Tanks?
Hey guys, do you think that the developers will at some point after the full game release include modern tanks like the Abrams, T72 etc.?

I think that would be pretty cool to be able and repair/renovate modern tanks, test drive them and even take them for a spin at the proving grounds.

no.

its clearly and definitly designed for WWII vehicules. devs do not plan any modern tank at all.

(that wouldnt be logic to put such tank in a museum next WWII tanks...)

still, i have no doubt that some futur modder will maybe implant modern tank via the workshop.

but officialy, its a no from the devs

Yea, in the game description I saw it said it's about WW2 tanks hence why I said "after full game release", as a part of some DLC or something alike

but it would be kinda cool to have a split historic & modern museum in some weird way

But it's 'Tank Mechanic Simulator', not 'WW2 Tanks Mechanic Simulator'. Tho really you're not even a Mechanic, you're just some guy that restores tank parts, not really fixing them.

Either way, we need MOAR! MOAR TANKS! Hundreds of more!

It's misnamed. It's not "Tank Mechanic Simulator" it's "Tank Restoration Simulator." And you don't restore modern tanks seein' has how they're modern and don't need it :)

"full game release" is a big word as for now... the game barely pop out and its far far away from a decent amount of content to call it final.
devs plan to add many tanks based on community suggestion. but like i say, i have no doubt that once the workshop will be out, many modder will add al kind of tanks, from WWI to modern to star wars stuff and else warhammer or random stuff. it all depend of modders.

as for the devs, their answer was pretty simple for now, its a "no", only WWII vehicules.

Could you please provide a link or something where the devs said outright no to modern stuff? Im curious because I couldn't find anything on the Discord, perhaps I missed it

what a bummer, especially with the tanks that were added post release becoming more intricately modeled i think it would have been really cool to work on something like the Abrams' ATG1500 turbine engine.

Way to resurrect a 3 yr old thread ;) But I expect they'd have a hard time getting blue prints in high enough detail for a modern tank and it's parts. I wouldn't be surprised if such things are classified.

the resurrections happen sometimes here, better this than clogging the forum up with a new thread. still they could make some educated guesses about the tank's functions, but it might still be better that this wont just turn into another warthunder forum.

I would guess they don't want to make educated guesses. Possibly a larger issue which I thought of later is that they're trying to replicate (simulate?) a garage where one has the opportunity to fix up tanks. This would assuredly never happen with anything remotely modern. I guess unless they respond directly we never will know exactly. These are just reasons I thought of as to why it might not be viable or fitting.

It does make one wonder what some of the army garages look like in Ukraine currently. Even Russia for that matter. Both sides have been seen using patched up vehicles.
